Wait. Several people were ready to pounce all over this grant writer when it was thought she was another out of town hire by the current admin but now it is not important? It is not important that she is a rehire from the previous admin? Seeing as how this admin isn't keeping anyone from before.
I was told from one of the higher ups that it was the executive secretary who pulled in the grant. I will search an answer out to that in the a.m. If I have reported incorrectly I did so because I was give the wrong information. But that was the answer I received when I questioned the "high" paid secretary to someone on the Dem. Executive board. Will try to find out tomorrow.
I believe that hiring should take place from within the town where possible. A friggin' secretary? Very much possible. I know a good one...her name is Lynn Fiorillo. Also, I read about one in the paper...her name is Kim Bruhns. Hell, give the job to that ego maniacal hack Diane Marco. How about Roslyn Warlyk, a competent party loyal for YEARS! I can rattle off tens of other Dem supporters that would be a perfect fit for a damn secretary's job.
Grant writing is not a menial secretary's position. Grant writing requires a expert command of written and spoken English, and a very strong background with getting funds for governmental institutions.
You're a soldier, GiantsFan56 (Granted, you're a soldier who has been online for 17 hours and finds time all throughout the day to post on a blog halfway across the world.) Would you want a grant writer to serve as your sniper or spotter? I doubt it. Well, I don't want someone equally unqualified to serve as my grant writer.
None of the names you have mentioned TBV have the know-how of Ms. Mullaly. The secretary to the Super is not some "menial" job. Why are you such a dope? Don't you know that the if you want anything done in a school or business or other office environment you better be friends with the secretary and the maintenance man. Your condescending attitude toward administrative assistants is a little overwhelming. As for Mullaly--she aint your everyday secretary. Her skills and facility in government are highly regarded in the Assembly.

And she knows WHAT exactly about Rotterdam? If she's that highly regarded, I'm sure she made more than lil' old Rotterdam could pay her - why'd she leave?
I have no attitude toward administrative professionals. Compared to a grant writer, a secretary's position is menial, IMHO. I have served in a similar capacity for two different private sector companies. One had a very steady flow of foot and telephone traffic. However, the job I do now is much more important and requires more skills and education.
I've been there and done that, and I would never knock a secretary's position. I have first-hand experience with such a position. But I don't fool myself into thinking the position is anything more than that.
Maybe Ms. Mullaly can check del Gallo's $#@%& e-mail, since people on this blog have apparently messaged him with no response.
TBV - yup I have been on this blog on and off for the last 24 hours. I am currently recieving my people back from R&R leave for the next few days(very long days). I have had some extra time for the last 2 1/2 weeks. My current position also gives me the latitude to be online(on my tab not Uncle Sams). This is kind of how I found the blog in the first place. I was looking for information on FDG. Google brought me here. Anything else you would like to know?
As for a grant writer as my sniper/spotter. Are they smart? Are they a good sniper/spotter. Incase you didn't know we have a lot of reservists/national gaurd here who are doctors/lawyers/construction workers / secretaries and soldiers. Multi - tasking.
As for Ms. Mullally, seems only one poster here has made any attempt to find anything relative out about her. According to earlier posts in another blog she has over 30 years experience in Albany. Her last boss was Assemblyman Mark Weprin.
According to wiki On November 3, 2009, Mark Weprin was elected to represent the 23rd district of the New York City Council, which encompasses a large portion of North Eastern Queens, replacing his brother David Weprin, who had chosen to run for Comptroller instead of reelection to the City Council, but lost the Democratic primary election. In his run for City Council, Mark Weprin received the endorsements of several prominent unions and political representatives in the district.
Looks like he left for NYC. Maybe Ms. Mullally didn't want to move to the City after 30 + years in the area.
Anyway, I like how this was brought up again just as others were going to rip this administration for hiring another outsider until it was pointed out that that individual worked for the last admin as well. ohp Nothing to see here! Darn, we can't bash them for this lets go back to that other thing.
So what is it that you folks do that gives a select few of you the ability to post throughout the day? I am going to assume some are retired people or stay at home self employed. Lets see, what else. Governement workers with a little extra time? Bored politicians? Butcher, Baker, Candlestick Maker?

or plans to move the city here ---like they did in schenectady....
Talking to each other is better than talking about each other
With regard to residency, I agree with Parisi's comment at the Town Board meeting. He stated that he understands hiring outside for a law firm (like Liccardi) because not everyone in Rotterdam is going to be an experienced municipal law attorney. A grant writer would fall into the same category.

Alley, it's noon...did you get the answer this morning?

A secretary would not.
How about a goofball assessor from Grafton NY. What category does he fall in? If I am not mistaken the previous assessor lived in town? No?? I am so confused TBV. I trust you can verify but can we trust? LOL
