Rotterdam Democrats should cooperate with lone board Republican
Re Feb. 3 article, “Parisi raises access squabble”: The comments made by [Deputy Rotterdam Supervisor] Bob Godlewski regarding Freedom of Information Law [FOIL] requests were quite disheartening. The administration campaigned on a platform of transparency and openness. Yet its actions and defenses of those actions are anything but transparent. The fact that Town Board member Gerard Parisi has not been provided the information he requested is bad enough, the fact that he was forced to FOIL those records is worse. And the fact that the FOIL requests have been ignored is inexcusable. Godlewski’s defense that Parisi’s complaint is akin to the pot calling the kettle black because Godlewski has had FOIL requests denied in the past demonstrates that Godlewski cares more about retribution for perceived past slights against him than about providing strong, bipartisan leadership to the town. The reality is that Mr. Godlewski has had past FOIL requests denied, with a written explanation, complete with directions on how to appeal the decision. Mr. Parisi has not been afforded this response, though required by law. Furthermore, when Mr. Godlewski formerly served on the town board, he was provided the information to which he was entitled — without having to resort to FOIL requests. It’s time to stop the political nonsense; the campaign is over. It’s time for the administration that campaigned on a platform of transparency to live up to its word!
LYNN FIORILLO Rotterdam The writer was the unsuccessful Republican candidate for town clerk in last fall’s election.

There is that word fact again. Fact: 1. something that actually exists; reality; truth: Your fears have no basis in fact. 2. something known to exist or to have happened:
TBV - LOL - yup derogatory remarks at me make great conversation.
-Eunice will have here hearing and a judge will decide to what extent she is to be punished or not
-I am sure hire backs are not happening so why bother posting it
-Take back what was promised to an employee. That will set a good standard
-Can the assessor be fired?
-Fire another person in the office that people are already complaining dosen't respond quick enough. Very smart choice
-and as for the FOIL
IF Parisi asked for the information he should have gotten it. his FOIL should be answered. WHEN did he submit it? WHAT is the drop dead date for his answer?

anyone can find things wrong. it is coming up with the fix that is hard.
I went with your idea, soldier...I threw out some 'fixes' that would surely restore trust in the elected officials and a semblance of normalcy in Town Hall. What did you do? You shot them all down, point by point, with your personal opinions. Just to be clear, if we express our opinions on issues, we are just "whining" and not worrying about solutions. When we do offer solutions, you rule them out as being stupid. I'll bet if I ask you for a solution, you'll say that you're too busy, or that you want to "learn more" before making any decisions. At least I, and others on this board, have the cajones to make statements, and offer solutions. You just want to ask veiled questions as one of the many arms of the Dems who are looking to do damage control, as GB stated. The funny part is, is that it will probably work, because this electorate doesn't seem to give a damn. |

so firing Eunice right now is the solution? Not letting the legal system do it's part?
You want the current admint hire back those they fired. You know that is not going to happen
You said to fire the assessor or back him. My question was can he be fired? Is it possible?
My solution to the current issue (Mr. Parisi's FOIL) is for some facts. When did it get submitted and when do they have to reply? I already stated that he should have the information. I just find it odd that it seemed to go straight to a press release. It would be stupid for the current admin to let this get more blown up and pushed to further legal type action. Instead of taking care of it inhouse. Like giving him the information.
As for the other issues you want the administration fire and take away from people they brought in to help run the town. That doesn't sound like very good buisness. Then no one would want to work for this admin.
Has anyone tried to e-mail / call this admin in the last week without a response of some sort?
And I am pretty sure that I am not the one continually bringing up what I do for a living. |

Eunice can't be "fired" - she's an elected official. She'd either need to resign in disgrace, be censured, or removed by the courts in disgrace. There is no easy way out for her. Kinda sad actually, she had a long, and distinguished career in Rotterdam. Nobody can honestly deny that. |

By the way when Mallaly was hired she was told part of her duties included answering the phone in Sup. office. She told them she doesn't do phones. Perhaps that is why so many are employed in that office. Plus Golden is Holly Vellano's niece. |

Some how I find that very difficult to believe. A secretary that won't answer the phone? Right........... Who is Holly Vellano? |
