Obama chief of staff’s 'retarded' insult brings fallout, Palin criticism

Dating back to the time he worked in the Clinton administration, White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel has developed an almost notorious reputation in Washington for being a brash personality with a penchant for profanity-laced diatribes. Conversely, his intense nature, in addition to his sharp mind, are what many attribute to his success and effectiveness as a Washington power player. But a recently revealed remark he made in a closed-door meeting attended by White House aides and leaders of liberal special-interest groups has irked many, prompting him to issue an apology.
Last week, the Wall Street Journal reported that Emanuel, exasperated upon learning that liberal special-interest groups were planning to run ads against conservative Democrats not supportive of health care reform, blasted the plan as "f------ retarded" over the summer. Naturally, some outrage ensued after Emanuel's words came to light, with former Alaska Gov. Don’t say ‘retarded,’ say ‘mentally disabled’

    In their crusade to purge the word “retarded” from common use, the mentally disabled and their advocates have made some serious strides.
    But curbing the hurtful term from conversation has proven more challenging.
    The latest controversy took off after it was revealed that White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel had used the term “retarded” during a closed-door strategy session last year about health care, prompting fury from advocates for the mentally challenged — and from Sarah Palin, who called for Emanuel’s firing.
    As the mother of a boy with Down Syndrome, Palin gives valuable voice to the issue.
    But her critiques would mean much more if she were equally incensed when Rush Limbaugh used the term.
    The point of the campaign to end the “r” word is, at heart, to give disabled citizens the dignity they deserve. If it works, it will prove that the mentally disabled are gaining political clout, and that our society has the capacity to change for the better.

In other news we can no longer use the word f**K.  We must now say coitus in its place.

I tried.  I really did.  But coitusing doesn't have the impact of f**king.  Guess that I'll get used
to it with time.  

See.....now the way I read it.....you can say f**king.....ya just can't say retard! The pc word is 'mentally disabled'. So I guess Emmanual would have been ok if he referred to them as 'f**king mentally disabled'.....right?

As Dr Savage stated, liberalism is a mental disorder. "Deadfish" Emmanuel should resign in disgrace.  Take that press secretary and Janet N with him. Maybe someone here can start a petition?
