Senate Race For Ted Kennedy's Seat Turns Negative In Massachusetts

BOSTON — What for weeks had been a polite – even sleepy – race in Massachusetts to fill the late Edward M. Kennedy's Senate seat has turned negative as the contest tightens, raising the stakes for both parties and the White House in next week's special election.
In a 48-hour span:
_Democrat Martha Coakley, who had been heavily favored, unleashed a TV ad attacking her GOP opponent, Scott Brown, as "in lockstep with Washington Republicans."
_The national committee charged with electing Senate Democrats rolled out an ad claiming Massachusetts voters know little about Brown and imploring them not to let him "take them for a ride."
_The Service Employees International Union went on the air with a spot that says Brown "calls himself independent, but voted with Republican leadership 96 percent of the time," opposes abortion rights and is backed by some of Sarah Palin's supporters.
But Brown is not very conservative over all. He is more of a moderate. I wonder if the conservatives will vote for the independent candidate who is named Kennedy (no relation to THOSE Kennedys) to show their displeasure in the two party system. What would people on this blog do?

Can any of them barely read a resolution without hand-holding from a tutor/town attorney? If the race goes anything like Rotterdam's, then that one will most likely win.

Brown is now ahead by 4%. Not a hell of a lead, but a lead none the less. I don't live in Mass, so I'm not an expert of their political dynamics. All I know is that it is a dem/lib state. It appears that this may also be the effect of the over spending, healthcare beast, and bailouts from this present dem/lib administration. This just may be the beginning of the backlash the dems will begin to feel nationally!
Combine that with the obvious fact that there are many, not all, people that ARE unhappy with our present 2 party system and politics as usual. In my opinion, that is what is going on in the great liberal state of Mass.
And IF a dem/lib does not get elected to kennedy's seat, you just MIGHT see this health care beast either watered down even more or completely dead!! That will definately be a black eye for obama and barbie botox pelosi, and surely the beginning of the end for the democratic/socialist/liberal control.

WASHINGTON -- Democratic sources tell the Associated Press that President Barack Obama intends to travel to Massachusetts before Tuesday to campaign for the endangered Democratic candidate in a Senate special election.
The sources spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to pre-empt a White House announcement. The timing of the visit is uncertain.
A poll is showing a shift in favor of the Republican Party in the race to fill a Senate seat that Democrats have held for more than half a century. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy died of brain cancer last August.
That should seal it for Scott Brown. The best moment was when a Coakley's goon knocked down a reporter-although looking at it-she didn't see it happen.
After Brown wins watch how long the DEMS drag out certification. Thought REPS can't win in the Northeast? The DEMS are going down in flames nationwide-except for Schenectady County.
Obama agreed to come to Mass. because the Dems in Mass. are in a full blown panic because they may lose the seat that Kennedy sat in for 40 years. MT is right even having Brown running this close to Coakley is a victory and if a REP can run this well in a blue state that overwhelmingly voted for Obama you can bet the states in the mid west where the Dems won by a slim margin will vote Rep come Nov 2010. It sure would be great if Brown won and ended the misery that this country suffers every day with more and more of the taxpayers money being spent for special interest favors.

Hello all, It's become clear, in recent days, that the election of Scott Brown to the United States Senate is going to be the deathblow to Obamacare. All the work we have done since the April Tea Parties, August townhalls, The 9/12 March and all the other activism that we have all sacrificed to be a part of has culminated to this point. The special election to be held on Tuesday January 19 in the Bay State will be nothing short of a mandate on Socialism.
This coming weekend is the weekend to act to make the most difference for the Brown Campaign. New polls show Scott Brown with a 4 point lead over liberal democrat Attorney General Martha Coakley, who will be another rubber stamp for Harry Reid in the Senate. But we can't afford to rest until all the ballots are cast. The Albany Tea Party Patriots are joining with Tea Patriot Groups from all over the East coast to descend on the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to promote Scott Brown however we can!
The official trip will be on Monday, January 18th and we will be caravaning throught the state and rallying for Brown. We will be meeting in the Best Buy parking lot at Crossgates Mall in Albany. The plan is to get window marking paints and apply logos to the vehicles. We will stop in Williamstown, Pittsfield, Springfield, Sturbridge and ultimately Worcester where we will meet up with the Brown campaign and other patriot groups.
If you can't make it with us on Monday, please consider working the phonebank for Brown or donating money or volunteering another day this weekend. Everything will make a difference. We can send an enormous message to Reid, Pelosi and Obama with a decisive victory in MA. We can do it together!
