Hey, my neighbor showed me a letter they got from delgallo pools today. I asked to borrow it so I can post some of it here........It starts with Happy New Year blah, blah blah.....but then it goes on to say this........

Quoted Text
Recently we became aware of a letter sent to our clients by Pat Ragozzino/d.p.s. corp, implying that the service portion of our business had moved and that we were no longer in business.

The letter goes on to say that it's not true. and blah blah blah....

What's this about?

Do you have a pool that Delgallo company installed?

But that name, Ragozzino, it's synonymous with Popolizio, they are always listed in the paper as tax delinquents, absentee landlords

No I don't have a delgallo pool, but my neighbor does. Also, I always heard that it was popolizio that ran the 'business' end ofthe pool place I heard that it was fdg who dug the holes and filled them with water. Of course that is all just hear say, but hearing ragozzion's name, which I agree is synonymous with popolizio, make me wonder....wth?

Ah, bumble, my spologies, I re-red the original post when you wrote about your neighbor.  But you answered the question if I posed it correctly.

OK, Ragozzino & Popolizio own Drome Sound.  When the mortgage they had on that (in the former location where that dollar store is now) was in default, they were saved at the 11th hour (and 59 minutes) and they had failed to pay on like $875,000!    And look at the people today who are in danger of losing their homes, not because of the predatory lenders, but because they lost their jobs or reduced pay, and they are even having problems getting the loan modifications done.  But these guys, who are they paying off.

Anyway, check this blurb from Channel 6 investigation some years ago, it was an investigative report, here is an exerpt

Quoted Text
Governor Pataki came through for Schenectady just in the knick of time, giving the city two million dollars in aid this week.  Schenectady's mayor says this may carry the city to September — but it still doesn't solve its long term financial crisis.  Meanwhile, hundreds owe back taxes to the city that amount to millions of dollars.  Who are they? Amy Polacko found out in our Tax Deadbeats investigation:

Tom Meaney/Schenectady: "It's despicable."

Amy: "Why do you think some of these people aren't paying?" Temple Bailey/Schenectady: "Because they can get away with it."

Our I-Team obtained this list of the top 100 tax delinquents....and learned the city could get 7 million dollars if all back taxes were paid.

Tom Meaney/Schenectady: "Astronomical. It's mind boggling."

Money that could pay for essential services as the city threatens to go bankrupt.

Topping the list, 575-thousand dollars in back taxes owed on the Campbell Plastics Plant on Campbell Avenue...but the city says this is an environmental cleanup issue so it may never see the money.

...

Frank Popilizo's one who's complained about high property taxes before...but his lawyer told him not to talk about his 102-thousand dollar tab because he's trying to strike a deal with the city. Some say that's not fair.

Tom Meaney/Schenectady: "Go after Popolizio and get the money from him."

Popolizio's partner, Pat Ragozzino, owes 83-thousand...he didn't return our calls.

And a TU report

MARV CERMAK Staff writer
Section: CAPITAL REGION,  Page: E4

Date: Sunday, November 2, 1997

Schenectady The owners of 262 city properties who are in arrears for more than $1.5 million in city, county and school district taxes face foreclosure by the city. Michael Brockbank, the city's chief attorney, said Nov. 26 is the deadline to pay the back taxes.

``Property owners who haven't paid by that date will lose all rights to the land, buildings and anything in the buildings,'' Brockbank said.

The delinquent taxes cover two years.

Brockbank said the largest delinquency was $64,729 for eight properties owned by Frank Popolizio and Pat Ragozzino, the city's largest landlord. The partners own more than 70 properties

SCHENECTADY -- Sizable property assessment breaks granted by John A. MacIsaac on five commercial properties in the thriving upper Union Street business district were the focus Thursday of the city's case to fire the assessor. All five parcels are owned either separately by Frank Popolizio or jointly by Popolizio and Pasquale Ragozzino, who together have become the city's largest landlords through ownership of about 70 properties.

another question I have is how come DelGallo Pools is not listed in the database of companies in NYS, that's law to be registered with the state

The relationship between Del Gallo and Popolizio/Raggozino first began back in 1989, when Delgallo was assigned a mortgage they held.

In the whole NYS database (Dept of State), there are only two results iwth the name DelGallo connected with it.

One is DelGallo Limo Service owned by Christine DelGallo on Jay St in Schenectady, that is "active"

There is an inactive DelGallo Promotions, owned by a James Bradshaw, dissolved in 2001

Trust....went to teh Schdy site, lots to read to follow it all.  And the infamous name of Civitello is also in there, big criminal family in Schenectady city, all getting arrested at one time or another.

Now, I wonder if the taxes current on DelGallo's pool business, both property and any business/sales taxes.  If there's a connection to Popolizio, the big slum landlord, I'll bet not, but that would have all came out in the campaign for supervisor I'm sure....or would it?

If I remember correctly, there's a corporate name that doesn't include "Delgallo" .. and a dba under that corp for the pool biz.  Check the county clerks office.

MikeChrisitne--are you smoking something?  Civitello is NOT a big crime family.  What the heck are you talking about.  There was a guy whose last name was Civitello who was a common theif.  He had nothing to do with the Civitello family from Jay Street.  He was just a thug who got his name in the papers a lot.  The Civitello Family is an upstanding, contributing family.  ONE guy got arrested not MANY and they were no relation to that family.

Great investigative reporting MC! And it just goes to show that here we are 13 years later and the 'select few' are still receiving 'special favors'. Good work MC and thanks for taking the time to check and share!
