I hear it's gonna be a hell of a circus ride with this crew. Did anyone go or hear anything? I certainly did!!

hi, longtime lurker first time poster

Godlewski said rotterdam police are responding to calls out side the town.  He said the chief told him that it isn't costing that residents anymore money.  I can't see how that is possible.  Doesnt that mean they respond to more calls?  Anybody have more info on this?

Welcome on "board" TylerDurden.  Why would they respond out side the Town?

I'm not a GP fan...but he 'shinned' on that board tonight. Does that tell you anything? It was so.....uh.....how do I say it.....well we'll just use the word BAD...k? It was so bad tonight that people predict that fdg won't even make it through his first year. Or perhaps even his first month.

Again I say....the dems should be totally ashamed of themselves for putting this 70 year old man with a heart condition in this embarrassing spot!!! As benny says....'they should all resign in disgrace'! IMHO

As far as the police...dunno! But I would guess the word 'consolidation' may be in the wind. Perhaps?

He hasn't announced his retirement date yet? I'm surprised he stayed for the whole meeting.  Must have had a good afternoon nap.

It's one of those things...you just had to be there!   FDG was being directed by the new town attorney as to what to say and do, DiLeva directed Martin a couple times to second the motion, FDG couldn't hear a question asked about REMS so Godlewski took over but then had to ask GP for the facts.  I predict they will be asking Gerard often...so why didn't they just keep him as Town Attorney?   When the new Town Attorney was asked a question about REMS, he stated that he wasn't up to speed yet.  Again, too much to put in print...watch it on Channel 16 and if the total meeting isn't broadcasted, let's tell the Board that they need to fix that too!

Town alters residency rule, hires new secretary

ROTTERDAM — Town officials approved an expansion of the residency requirement for the confi - dential secretary to the supervisor Wednesday.
Board members ratified the change to the local law by a vote of 4-1, with loan Republican Gerard Parisi casting the dissenting vote. In casting his objection, Parisi said he believes there are more than enough qualified candidates for the confidential secretary position in Rotterdam and that town residents should be given a crack at the job.
“And I think it’s important to have someone local in that position,” he said.
Parisi also voted against resolutions appointing Darlene Mullally of Rensselaer to the position and giving her a $10,000 stipend in addition to her $42,000 salary. Both resolutions were passed with support from the board’s two Conservatives and two Democrats.
Prior to the vote, several residents spoke against the move on the grounds that a local town worker would help keep tax dollars in Rotterdam. Kevin March said an employee living outside of the town would essentially hurt local business.
“You have someone who is going to drive their paycheck right out of town and it’s not going to help local business,” he said.
Town officials have suggested Mullally’s extensive experience in state government will be an asset to Rotterdam and possibly help them curry favor in Albany. They argued this experience will more than compensate for her salary.
Mullally will replace Kim Bruhns starting next week. Bruhns, who has worked for the town for more than five years, believes her termination is politically motivated.
