what u are seeing is history repeat itself. During FDR's years, the right wing of the GOP party said the same thing about the country going into the toilet, that we were headed toward communism. blah, blah blah.... the no new tax party and the tea party are of the same stamp --- the think we are headed toward socialism, which is the worst of all worlds. however. the worst of all worlds, for those who forget, were the bush years.

I must disagree.  Those in the Tea Party movement recognize that BOTH parties are moving the country into a direction of centralized control of government.  You can attach whatever "ism" you want to attach to it.  The fact remains that people from BOTH ends of the political spectrum want less government control, and more representation.  Hence "Tea Party".  Ya know the whole "no taxation, without representation".

Both parties are giving the Country away to the highest bidder.  Billions of dollars in corporate welfare to bailout rich bankers.  Trillions of dollars to insurance companies and drug companies to centrally control healthcare.  Billions of dollars in social welfare bureaucracy and public unions.  As we learned "Change" just means that the new party in control can take our money and pay back those who funded their campaigns.  All the same institutions that keep funding the parties with millions and millions of dollars, and keeping them in power.  The Tea Party movements power is derived from those in the movement, not how much financial clout they have.

Despite how the media portrays the Tea Party, with derogatory remarks like "tea baggers", this movement isn't a fringe "right wing" movement.  This is a centrist to maybe center right movement that continues to pick up steam.

The whole tea party thing is cute and all but how about we get down to some facts. The tea partyers want us all to believe that they are such wonderful individuals with the best interest of the public at heart, but what they aren't publicizing is the fact that the tea parties are funded by known Republican groups like Americans for Prosperity and Freedom Works. So I guess the NNTP is just like the tea party movement: tea party is funded by lobbyists and NNTP is funded by the Assembly Republicans. Change we can believe in!

So the Republican Party is funding and organizing a movement that hurts their party the most?  Hmmmmm... Interesting perspective.  Doesn't make much sense.

That is because you don't know how power hungry these state politicians are to control local parties for fund raising purposes.

Follow the money.  I did.  If we are talking about the NNTP, most of the money came from the candidates themselves, their family, and their supporters.  No local businesses or unions made large dollar contributions to these campaigns that I'm aware of.  If you look at the Democrat or Republican donor list, it is littered with large business and union contributions.  So I do follow the money.

More proof(by somebody I assume is within the party structure) why there continues to be this movement away from the two party system.  MONEY AND CONTROL FOR THE PARTY.

That is the beauty of this tea party movement. It isn't about 'party' as it is about a 'qualified candidate' with a conservative ideology and a desire for small government.

Something the reps and cons have failed at in the last decade. We won't include the lib. dems, cause we all know that they are all forbig government and tax and spend!

What REP money? How about follow the red ink? REPS "leaders" met and laid an egg. NNTP patriots are still waiting for the advertised "olive branch". The same people behind this debacle still refuse demand a head on a platter.

10 more years of Howdy Doody BT? Joking right? What Tedisco needs is a Tea Party challenger not just Sue Savage.

I don't believe that the NNTP candidates are sitting around waiting for an olive branch from any one or any party. They were focused and determined to be the voice of the people and they still are.

green lantern you are absolutely right about  the NNTP people not really being as purely conservative as they claim to be. Well at least Mert isn't.  Would someone who claims to be the protector of tax money  really have given Hamilton such a lucrative contract? Hamilton is a good guy and he does a good job but compared to other agencies it seems like he is paid more than the going rate. Mertz in his role as police commissioner pretty much had carte blanche to negotiate the contract. Where was the fiscal conservativism then? He's only using it now for his personal benefit! But the rest of you can keep believing he's there for us...

C'mon silly, you know the police commission folded well before the contract negotiations.  As a matter of fact, if you read any article in the Gazette on that topic, Mr. Tommasone was the person who answered any questions regarding the negotiations.  Geez, nothin like rewriting history.

Just in case you forgot.... ..... It was after the 'Collins retirement' fiasco that flamed the town residents. The residents were appaulled at the lucrative pay and benefits going to their police force. The residents were looking for someone...any one who would listen to their concerns. The only one that would listen to the taxpayers was mertzie. And I'm sure you know the rest of the story......the residents/taxpayers lost!
