And personal gain?! Political gain!? What has Kelly ever gotten for all the time and energy she puts in (agree with it or not?)  Then consider who's REALLY there for personal gain...

What I find humorous is that Kelly's been around long before Brad, and will be around long after.  Like it or not, she's a constant in Schenectady County politics.  One would be naive to think otherwise!

You are quite correct; she is a constant in Schenctady County politics.  Now let's look at the state of Schenectady County politics.  What's the common denominator?  The same people and same interests have been controlling the county for years.  She may not directly benefit financially, but those who attempt to harness her energy do.  ie: Parisi

Brad may not have been around as long as her.  But,,,he had a greater direct impact on an election than she ever had or ever will.  Just ask the Republicans.

Cicero--some of what you say is dead on.  Those who "harness" her energy do gain.  It would be disingenuous of you to say that Schdy politics is where it's at (the dumper)because of Kelly.  The Reps are where they are because of the lack of leadership by Tom Buchanan.  Brad has in NO way done more than Kelly.  He was just as guilty as the others.  Using her to try and win the election.  She strong armed plenty of folks to put up his signs and get others to vote for him.  She worked hard for the NNTP.  To say otherwise is untrue.  Brad did plenty to impact the election.  Thanks to Brad and his running mates, the Dems took over.  Now we have an over priced secretary there and the reform they promised has not happened.  As close as one of the NNTP running mates is with Diane Marco, very little change for the better has occurred.  And the Reps are in disarray.  The real healing of this party will come when John Mertz steps up and works out things w/ KR.  They were friends before.  They can fix this problem together.  BL changes like the wind.  I suspect it is his lack of experience that causes him to act paranoid instead of the clarity to carry on.  I think Mertz will be key in what is ahead.  He needs to regroup, remember he used to be an ethical guy and step up immediately.  Benny is right--this nonsense is not good for business. IMHO

That is sooooooo untrue it is laughable! You must be part of this stagnant political dysfunctional system we call 'local government'.

As far as JM and KR bringing the rep party back together.....ask the con party how well that worked for them.

This is laughable at best.

This isn't specific to one person.  I'm talking about the political socialites who's intentions are disingenuous.  It is not uncommon in Schenectady County for people to change their political stripe in reaction to the ebbs and flow of political power.  As a matter of fact, it seems to be a prerequisite for getting elected.  Politicians in Schenectady County are chameleons with no principles, and will re-register with a new party if it means getting them elected.

I don't think Brad is paranoid, it's clarity.  You've accepted the warped reality of Schenectady County politics as the norm.

Well Bumble I am sorry to hear this.  And Bumble I think you have also been part of the dysfunction.  The NNTP are not the Saviors you think they are.  I don't care what you say, my money is still on Mertz and for sure KR will live to see another day.  And BL will end up chasing someother rainbow.

For any of the NNTP guys to claim that Kelly Rhinesmith didn't help them was a TRAVESTY! I saw her at meetings with them, congregating and discussing their ideals.  She WAS with them...isn't now, but WAS!

And just for the record if I haven't made myself clear any where else on this board:

To the Dems;
dont MAKE me love thy brother by taking mine and handing it over to someone else using the bible

To the Reps;
dont MAKE me not to be able to make choices regarding my own body using the bible

you're both thumping out of rhythm

Look.....it doesn't matter who the players are personally. What matters is that we need 'new blood and new faces and new voices and ideas' in this county. The same old recycled retreads are just that ..... RECYCLED! Hence....it continually recycles this dysfunctional governing. It is a vicious circle that always ends up in the same place.....nowhere!

It is unfortunate, at best, to see how 'some' in this county looked upon the new 'fresh faces'. The negative responses mean that they either.....
1. can't accept change.
2. or the new faces are a threat to their present existence of doing business as usual.

For the nay sayers....you will always continue on with your present way of 'business as usual'. Trying to discredit the new look of politics and moving forward progress. Protecting what you want to continue to be 'yours'.

For the people who are looking to raise the bar and change the 'business as usual' politics in this state, from the bottom all the way to the top....jump on board with the tea partier's so to say. Walk away from the 'old' and support and encourage the 'new'.

The names and faces of the players and their close supporters have to change or we will continue in this downward spiral we are in now.

KR among others were used during this last election. They were made promises by the new board and
the new board reneged.  They also made promises that they would be fiscally responsible.  I don't think
hiring a secretary for $52,000 is fiscally responsible. I don't know too many secretaries that make that
kind of dough.

Yes, but executive secretaries usually have 'real executives' as their boss! Is that the case here?
