A Rotterdam man shot his niece's boyfriend during a domestic dispute at a home on Outer Drive early Tuesday morning, police said. Brian Simmons, of Outer Drive, was arguing with his niece when her boyfriend Joel Winkler, attempted to intervene, RPD said. Simmons then shot Winker, in the torso with a shotgun at 12:53 AM Tuesday.
Winkler, of Rotterdam Junction, was taken to AMC where he is being treated. Simmons was charges with first degree assault and was arraigned in Rotterdam Town Court. He is in the Schenectady County Jail.
Someone who lives over in that area said that they 'heard' that the shooting took place on outter drive. The guy who got shot 'supposedly' ended up at stewarts. This is NOT a fact. Just hearsay!
My question would be.....didn't this winkler guy 'see' the shotgun? I mean it's not like it's a concealed weapon. Without knowing the details, I would have been dialing 911 on my cell while I was running like hell!
