BG wanted to appoint McGarry? And instead the Rep's appointed GP who has stated that he has no intention in       running in Nov and again the following year. Sounds like more of the same garbage from the Rep's. The Dems are alligning themselves up with the Conserv's while the Rep's continue to make as#'s out of themselves.

Are you suggesting that if the reps did a complete turn around, the cons would then align themselves with them and not the dems? I don't understand the reasoning here. Are the cons not aligning themselves with the reps cause the dems are more conservative in their ideology?

It is quite obvious that all three parties have lost their base. Hence....in steps the independent/tea party candidates! IMHO

I don't think the cons have lost their base. Their base is still expanding by the year, proven by an increase of 8% in enrollment in this county again last year. I think the cons are becoming much more effective and I don't see them aligning themselves with the Reps with their current decision makers. Heck, most Reps don't align themselves with these boobs. Which explains why the repubs lost more members again last year...

And I believe the incoming board members have a more Cons ideology then the out-going members. Hence, they would have appointed BM.

BM is a registered con. Why didn't his own party endorse him?...... and yet the new tb dems would have appointed him?

Did he ever request an interview or send a resume or ask to be considered throughout the interview process?

Towns headed in opposite political directions
Glenville GOP assumes control while Rotterdam Democrats take majority

By PAUL NELSON, Staff writer
First published in print: Wednesday, December 30, 2009

The former Rotterdam Republican chairman is poised to become the party's lone representative on the Town Board while the GOP will take over full power in Glenville on New Year's Day.
If a resolution to appoint Gerard Parisi passes during today's special meeting, the Rotterdam attorney would then serve out the remaining one-year term of Michael Della Villa, who resigned earlier this month, citing the demands of his job.
A second resolution calls for the Board to vote on accepting the resignation of Parisi's law firm, Parisi, Coan & Saccocio, a formality because the firm was going to be replaced once the new Democratic administration takes over Friday.

Parisi, 38, who has been Rotterdam town attorney for the past five years, will be replaced by East Greenbush attorney Joe Liccardi of Maney, McConville & Liccardi. The appointment of the new municipal attorney is expected to take place after the new officials are sworn in at 1 p.m. New Year's Day.

Parisi believes his knowledge of the town and experience as town attorney makes him an asset to the board.

"I think the four people have limited experience and they would benefit from me being there," he said.

Parisi rejected critics who blames his decision to attack Democratic Supervisor Francis Del Gallo for the Democratic losses on Election Night. He instead faulted the third party No New Tax Party for splitting the votes.

The Del Gallo-led slate of Matthew Martin and Robert Godlewski upset incumbent Supervisor Steven Tommasone and his running mates

Joseph Signore and Joseph Suhrada, Another incumbent John Mertz, a Republican who fell out of favor with his party and ran as part of a slate of candidates with the No New Tax Party party came in last. Nicola DiLeva, a Conservative who ran on the Democratic line was also victorious. Calls Tuesday to Del Gallo's pool company and a number listed for him were not returned.

As long as Parisi and the rest of our local reps are claiming victory IF it weren't for the NNTP, than the local reps will continue on the same path with the same leadership. And the cons are equally as dysfunctional as the reps. Perhaps even more so! If it weren't for the dems who chose to play footsies with the cons......the cons would be a distant memory. It is the dems that are keeping the con party alive....locally! IMHO

Someone should tell GP that if the Republican party wasn't saying one thing to their constituents in public then doing something else in a back room deal there wouldn't even be a need for the NNTP party. If the Rep party and Con party doesn't change the way they treat the taxpayers in this town they will never be elected again in Rotterdam. The taxpayer wants fiscal responsibility and honest people that say what they mean and mean what they say.

And WHO is actually out there going door to door to get these new enrollments?
People aren't knocking at the con's door for enrollments cause the party is so great.
There are other motives for these new enrollments.
Things aren't always as they appear.

I reviewed and have spoken to many of the new enrollments. They like the way the party is moving and decided to switch. What motives might you be speaking of?

Thats exactly what you did-blame the NNTP for the REPS total debacle. The NNTP brought in new voters and fiscal CONS-who would have sat at home. Good for them-a needed beginning. If the CONS become a second line for the DEMS and the REPS continue to implode, there is a need for the NNTP COUNTYWIDE.

Do you think that ALL the new enrollments like the direction the con party is moving in? Do you think that ALL of the new enrollments like the endorsements of liberal democrats by the con party? Do you think it is just one big happy family? Think again!

If the cons continue on the same path it is following, it also, like the rep party that also lost their ideology, will implode on itself. The dems are just sitting back enjoying the attention and support they are gaining from the cons, while there are some, within the party that are not enjoying it.

Why do you think there were dems, reps, cons (yes even cons) and blanks who voted the NNTP line?  I predict that the NNTP will NOT be a 'flash in the pan'.
