CAPITAL REGION I Fill Inkjets, Price Chopper expanding their partnership BY AMEERAH CETAWAYO Gazette Reporter
With the help of connections and credit card loans, Clifton Park resident Mark Tremont is growing his business. The owner of Delmar-based I Fill Inkjets is expanding the partnership he’s had with Price Chopper Supermarkets, increasing his recyclable ink outlets by 50 locations in the Capital Region since summer. The agreement also extends Tremont’s footprint to 75 Price Chopper stores across upstate New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. The expansion was five years in the making for Tremont, who started his business with a Colonie Center kiosk in January 2005, a location he shut down in July 2008. Being in the mall helped him introduce the concept of being able to refill empty ink cartridges, but it came with challenges. “It’s very difficult to be profitable when you’re in the mall like that because the costs are higher and you have to maintain long hours of operation,” he said. “It was a good foundation for the whole business model. It put me in the middle of a lot of people.” Educating the consumer is Tremont’s biggest challenge since less than 20 percent of printer users know they can refill their ink cartridges, he said. By the summer of 2005, Tremont opened his 600-square-foot store in Delmar only to meet a Price Chopper vice president who was interested in bringing his business into grocery stores. By the end of 2005, an I Fill Inkjets affiliate was in the Clifton Park Price Chopper. In 2006, when Tremont first spoke with The Gazette, he was working with Price Chopper to test his concept in three more areas — Latham, Glens Falls and Schenectady — to see if it would work on a broad scale. ......................>>>>....................>>>>.....................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00502&AppName=1

I bought some refills once, albeit not from this firm I think. Anyway, they printed me about 15 pages and conked out. I only buy HP ink for my HP printer now. |

Same here. I did it once to...not from this company and it was not worth it. I wouldn't do it again. |

Same experience here. Didn't print more than a few pages. Additionally, the ink was all over the outside of the cartridge. No thank you. I'll buy OEM cartridges. |

You may want to give them another try. There was a sale on the refills in August ($5 each). I've been using both the B&W and Color with my Dell printer without a problem. |

If your printer has a problem down the road....the first question they ask is if you are using oem ink or 're-fills'. They won't guarantee warranties if you use the re-fills. It could be just a ploy to buy their products....but they gotcha if you do have a problem after the re-fills.
My wife's work tried it with their xerox. They had a problem. The service guy came in and said it was due to the re-fills and the business had to foot the bill. |

My printer is about five years old and owes me nothing! Extremely dependable and never had a problem. But if your equipment is still under warranty, then I would agree regarding the exclusive use of OEM toner cartridges. |
