Schenectady County earns unwanted rank
County has highest rate of domestic violence reports of 57 counties

By CAROL DeMARE, Staff writer
First published in print: Friday, November 6, 2009

Schenectady County ranked first among upstate counties and Long Island for reports of domestic violence incidents per capita in 2008, U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer said Thursday.
He said 60,000 domestic violence incidents were reported, including 147 fatalities, in 57 of the state's counties. The listing excludes New York City.

Of that number, more than 25,000 involved women being abused by their spouse or partner. Other crimes were against men, children and parents. The statistics were compiled by the state Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS).

Maybe we can get Deb Riitano to do some "intervention"

It's too bad someone didn't do an intervention on you when you were a child.  Where were the social workers, and clergy who could have helped you?  Maybe you could get some free counseling at the free clinic.  Some meds might be of help.

We're Number One-We're Number One-in something besides taxes?

Maybe Karen Johnson {D-Proctor's} can expand her bullying program Countywide?

Maybe Joe could do a power point about the issue.  You could beam up from NC as you continue to be the accidental pundit.

Perhaps the non-profits can be instrumental in the domestic violence issue. They have done an outstanding job with the rest of the drug, pimp, whore and crime issues!

The leaders are leading this.......

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

Leaders what leaders?

You are forgetting about youth czar Lumpy Kosiur aka Father Flanigan.  The one who bought himself a sundae when your kid got a hit. This is right up his sweet spot. Maybe he can expand his "work" to include domestic violence cases? Of course with an appropriate pay adjustment.

No not Kosiur--domestic violence victims don't want a man trying to run interference.

Maybe Rhianna and Chris Brown would like to spearhead a program
