SCHENECTADY Proctors to help fight bullying Grant will pay to create program in conjuction with ‘Wicked’ run BY MICHAEL GOOT Gazette Reporter Reach Gazette reporter Michael Goot at 395-3105 or mgoot@dailygazette.net.
Bullying and Broadway don’t seem to go together, but in this case, they do. Proctors has received a $5,000 grant from The Broadway League to develop a program for Schenectady High School seniors about bullying in schools in conjunction with the upcoming musical “Wicked.” “Wicked” tells the classic “Wizard of Oz” story, but from the perspective of the Wicked Witch. The show is coming to Proctors for a 32-performance run beginning Dec. 9. Proctors will develop the program for 12th-grade students at Schenectady High School. Workshops will take place with specially trained teaching artists using the novel on which the musical is based — “The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West” by Gregory Maguire — as well as the show and improvisational techniques to focus on the show’s themes. The educators will address the growing problem of bullying in schools and how people’s actions have consequences, according to a press release. ..............>>>>.............>>>>.............http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01201&AppName=1

They think they're going to change these gang scum?
The money would be better spent on juvenile detention in the "big boyz" jail!
