ROTTERDAM
GOP candidates won’t attend hearing

BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter

Schenectady County’s Republican Committee chairman said his candidates won’t participate in hearings conducted by the Fair Campaign Practices for the Capital Region this election cycle.
In boycotting the hearings, Tom Buchanan cited the “disrespectful performance” by Schenectady County’s League of Women Voters during a candidates’ forum conducted last week in Rotterdam. In a letter addressed to the Rev. Maurice Drown, the president of Fair Campaign Practices, Buchanan said the league unfairly penalized the Republican candidates by not allowing them to answer questions from the public during the forum.
“We must therefore exercise our rights under the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and carry our message to the voter unfettered, and without undue interference by outside forces, such as your organization,” he said.
Several Republicans running for office in Rotterdam were asked to appear at a hearing this evening after Fair Campaign Practices received a complaint from Robert Godlewski, the Democratic candidate running for Town Board. Godlewski’s complaint cited Supervisor Steve Tommasone along with board candidates Stan Marchinkowski, Joseph Signore and Joe Suhrada for using the a campaign slogan — Save our EMS — that he says is misleading.
Fair Campaign Practices is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization. The organization’s board consists of four members of the Interfaith Alliance of the Capital District and two members each from each of the region’s four League of Women Voters chapters. ....................>>>>....................>>>>..............http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01702&AppName=1

I also signed the Fair Campaign Practices pledge and returned it to the League of Women Voters.  I participated in the Meet the Candidates forum sponsored by the LWV and have conducted myself as I pledged on my web site ( http://www.bradlittlefield.org ) approx. 5 months ago.  Elections should be about issues.  Resorting to personal attacks is an act of desparation and provides insight to how an individual will govern and treat his or her constituents after the election.

Couldn't have said it better myself, Brad.  Calling someone a moron for expressing their views counterpoint to the views of many of the REPS posters on this board is an insight into how they run Rotterdam Town Hall.  Too bad you aren't a resident of Rotterdam, you would have been a strong candidate for consideration for a Town Board seat.

Again puddy, take a breath and relax. And again, and the way I read it....filipe didn't call 'you' a moron, it sounded more like s/he thought your view was moronic.

Bumble why do you defend yourself.  Once the written words are out you can't get them back.  Felipe called me a MORON, you agreed and Suhrada called Maxine a FACIST.  Sick tick you REPS have.  But only a few more days of the mud throwing and hate spewing rhetoric.  How's the mortgage payments looking with the cut in pay looming?

HAHAHAHAHAHA - I'm a registered BLANK!!! And yup...In my opinion, I agree with felipe calling your 'view' moronic. And yup...I agree with suhrada 'comparing' LWV's to those of a facist. And yup....I am concerned with the qualifications of my elected officials. And yup....I am voting Row F ONLY!

As far as my mortgage payments , they are looking ok. My 'private sector' boss has not mentioned anything to me about a cut in pay. But thanks for asking.

Could be worse, could be PDQ (who deep down in side i think is u due to the fact u both call me "Vaddy") calling me a Retard...  I'm still shaking my head at that one...  Everyone's quick to point the finger across the hall when maybe they should be looking at themselves.. the entire community of people who work with developmentally disabled adults would be ashamed...

Here is the non-partisan group that handles unfair election complaints, at which the defender has to drive to Latham to be hear at a hearing while the one who lodges a complaint stays out campaigning. Take a look at the websites and tell me that they are not partisan and don't have issues to advocate for. Does anyone really think a Republican or conservative could get a fair hearing after the LWV debauchery? If I were running for office as a Republican I figure I have a better chance if I were a chicken and Frank Perdue were the judge.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

BT ~ you got it wrong ~ I don't think Puddy's views were moronic ~ I think Puddy is a MORON!

Moron ~ disused term for a person with a mental age between 8 and 12, slang for a stupid person ~ Dems in a sweep?  Really?  ~ yea, okay, sure

It must be very scary for you and all politicians, to think that people like myself,  that is a registered blank, who works in the private sector, choses to be informed, makes an independent decision and is not beholden to ANYONE, must be a politician. We aren't all sheople. And we clearly are not all politicians.

We get involved, we meet our elected officials and upcoming candidates. We ask them the tough questions directly without depending on any political party or liberal media to get the answers for us. There are many many of us out there. Don't underestimate the residents of rotterdam. I, like many other residents, are not in a political office or are no where near connected to one. I wouldn't jump into that snake pit for all the money in the world.

I, as a very informed resident, am much more effective and 'important' than any politician. I am the one you seek for votes.

Scary, I'm sure!

Maxine is NO Fascist.  Suhrada did not sign a fair campaign pledge although know he got one.  To the Ego's credit he did.  Of course, he does not honor it.  But that is up to the candidate to bring a charge.

As for Interfaith Alliance you would have a better chance at a fair hearing with them than you would anywhere else.  They stand for clean money and clean campaigns.  I can see why Suhrada and conservatives would be frightened by them.

Vaedur.....your assumptions are correct. PDQ, Puddy, Jigs and the list goes on. All the same person. Ya can't change the spots on a leopard.

And after this post from puddy aka pdq aka jigtuttle.....let's be grateful that s/he no longer lives in our town nor works here!
