I came across this list today. I don't know if it has already been posted here. If it is has been I'm sorry. I'm just in absolute shock to see what these men and women are getting paid. There job is surely dangerous but this out of control. Rotterdam police salaries:

I made roughly $71,000. I consider a PD officer more valuable and more riskier than what I earn - or what anyone I know earns. I've never begrudged an officer his salary, if they work the hours and don't spend it on "union business" Now, if you want to talk about NUMBER of officers - on the streets and sitting behind desks, there's another story all together. C/O's don't count either.

Well I work for the Schenectady County Sheriff's Department, we are all created equal, just some of us are more equal then others.

Now did I say I worked in side the jail? No I did not. I too have never begrudged anyone for anything all I did was post the salaries. There readily available for anyone to see. I just feel as a town resident we are not getting our $3,473,376 worth from the police department.
The average salary for a member of the Rotterdam police force is approximately $80K. The median income PER HOUSEHOLD in Rotterdam is $46,267. The median income for males is $37,536. The average for females is $27,527. I don't begrudge the police for earning their salary. I begrudge the Rotterdam resident who squeaks by year after year, barely scraping enough money together to paying their outrageous tax bills, then doesn't even question how their public servants live in 4000 square foot brand new homes. Then ONE politician points out the disparity between residents income and public servant pay, and our boys in blue who are grossly overpaid show up at town meeting trying to intimidate that politician. Who cares if they were upset with the police commission or developed "bad morale". At these salaries, where are they going??

Thank you and no I don't how much vacation they get but I'm sure its pretty handsome. What I do know is there is some Rotterdam Police officers in there first and second years making exorbitant amounts of money. I just personally think that our money could do better elsewhere. There is nothing wrong making a decent wage fifty or sixty thousand dollars a year but come on its an outrage. According to what I have found through my research a Rotterdam Police officer's pay is in the top .01% of all other depatments. The average is $49,685 throughout the country. But I have pot hole on my street that I have called about since last winter and they still haven't got around to patch it.
