Developer buys Stockade properties Saturday, September 19, 2009 By Michael Lamendola (Contact) Gazette Reporter
SCHENECTADY — A local developer has purchased the Gillette and Millington properties in the historic Stockade District for use as apartments and offices, according to the Chamber of Schenectady County. Jack McDonald, who owns the Van Dyck, the Stockade Inn, Pinhead Susan’s and other commercial and residential properties in Schenectady, purchased the properties for approximately $88,000 from the Schenectady County Chamber Foundation. Schenectady County purchased the buildings in 2001 using $83,500 in state money. Subsequently, the county used a $90,000 state grant to remove lead-based paint, contaminated soil and asbestos in and around the structures. It obtained a $303,000 state grant through state Sen. Hugh Farley, R-Niskayuna, to renovate the exterior of the Gillette House. No work was ever performed on the Millington House. The Gillette House was sealed after the exterior work, its interior left unfinished.....................>>>>...............>>>>...............http://www.dailygazette.com/news/2009/sep/19/0919_stockade/

The way I read it.....we, the taxpayers, paid almost a half a million for 'whatever'....and sold it for $88K. Now that's a great return on our money and a great buy for the new owners! |

Are you nuts? We paid well over a million and then the paper trail ends courtesy of some county bigwigs... |
| "While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat." |

The County Krats threw over a million taxpayer dollars into this Gillette House hole. This is going to be a Stockade welcome center and home for the Chamber {lol} who paid one dollar for it. Karen Johnson voted YES! and owns nearby property which appreciated in value. As usual, Joe Suhrada was the lonely voice against this taxpayer ripoff. McDonald again? Any money the Chamber received should be given back to the County taxpayers. If anything cries out for an Attorney General investigation-this is it. |

Joe Suhrada did do a good job pointing out the waste at the Gillette House, and the bigwigs responsible. Only if he was courageous enough and consistent to point out he waste going on at the Metroplex. And the millions of dollar dumped into those rat holes. How about the select few corporate bigwigs that profited off the taxpayer dime, courtesy Metorplex?
He doesn't point out Metroplex waste because it's walking a political tight rope. It's easy to hammer on City and County Democrats when you can single them out without worrying about members of the Republican Party being dragged in and are just as culpable. As benny points out, there are NO republicans in the City to be held responsible for ANYTHING. They're non- existent. |

You are correct. And it was the reps who created the plex beast to begin with. I just wish the dems could have handled our tax dollar a little(a lot) bit more responsibly. |

Bob F. did create this outrage but if all the County KRATS did not go along it would not have passed. Cicero is correct that the REPS created Metrograft but this sorry page was solely on the KRATS watch. And yes it is a political tightrope but who besides Joe Suhrada demands accountability? Sometimes ANG-end of list. |

So tell me, why do Democrats always look for someone to "blame" - rather than FIXING the issue? Blame the economy on Bush, instead of fixing it. Blame the Plex on Farley - instead of disbanding it (actually Dems INCREASED their life expectancy this year) Why always blame? Why not RESOLVE? |

There is NO PARTY to blame.......it's power and they are all political 'grease monkeys', greasing 'the machine'......and at the same time taking OUR bananas.......
NO NEW TAX------
where are the good industrialists, entrepreneurs/friends--------where are the brave?
I'm not an entrepreneur but I like to work for the good ones when I see them......no government involved please......
some entrepreneur/business folks know how to use taxpayer funds/property to make their own bigger---I hope they dont run for office..... |

November 3rd, 2010 at Room 110 City Hall, Jack McDonald is requesting:
"a Use variance for 252 Union Street (Gillette House) located in the Stockade Historic District to allow a restaurant with a drive thru, which is prohibited by section 264-10B"
A +++million dollar location turned into a drive thru. Classic! |

The day after Election Day. A fast food drive thru? This was supposedly {according to Karen Johnson} some historic site. The worst Chamber in the State buys it for a $1, after one million in taxpayer money flushed down the toilet, then flips it for a big profit. No repayment to the County sheeple that foot the bill. More DEM rebirth-lol- Vote for Dan Donovan for Attorney General. Then we can get someone to follow up the NYS Controller's horrid report on Metrograft. This is right up there with Stratton's golf pro pulling down $314,000 for 6 months work. Working Together Works-ROTFLMAO!! |

A drive thru in the stockade. Somehow, some way, Ron Severson had to be part of that idea.
Friggin classic. |
