You toss around the term "dirty" pretty easily. You should be careful. When you find a crime someone committed you should report it to the authorities. two people not getting along does not constitute criminality. That is the problem with some of you folks, you assume criminality because of disagreement on an issue or two. What is in your drinking water?

Dirty doesn't mean criminality.  Do you have a guilty conscience?  When I say dirty, I mean ethically.  I'm talking about all the party people with no ethics and no integrity.  The political whores who are out for themselves, but try to sell themselves as doing the work for the people.  When you take the time and take a closer look at these parties, you see that they are in it for themselves and the party.  You don't have to go any further than the Conservative Party primary for legislator.  A Democrat is the top vote getters, and a Democrat endorsed Conservative  is second.  What does conservative mean in Schenectady County?  What do these parties stand for?  Mary Barrie and Jack Denny endorsed by republicans - Judy Dagastino Frannie Delgallo get the conservative line.

These political party's in Schenectady County stand for NOTHING.  The No New Tax Party line is the only line worth voting.  If they keep their chins up and keep the positive message going, they are a group of community leaders worth following.

It will be interesting to see after O'Connor wins a seat, if party leaders treat him like Mertz and choose not to endorse him if he wants to run for re-election.

The only endorsement I’m interested in now or in the future is the one from the people.  So far that consists of 352 registered Republicans.  The No New Tax Party ballot line in November will provide the rest.  If it's enough, I'll be in and if not, I won't be.  But the voters are going to have an alternative they don't usually get in November - we'll see if they are bold enough to take advantage of it - because just me getting in isn't going to do the trick.  Despite GB’s remarks, it really is that simple for me.

Now listen RACCoons, please. Mike needs to remember E Pluribus Unum. Not the other way around.

according to Schenectady county history and Rotterdam's history---E Pluribus Unum only occurs in 'accepted' sandboxes.....

Time for the blanks to 'procreate' into the No New Tax Party......bang out the rugs so to speak.....

In the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz, the Wizard, who was blown into Oz from a state fair in Kansas, never refers to the United States by name, but calls it "the land of E pluribus unum."

E Pluribus Unum still appears on U.S. coins even though it is no longer the official national motto! That honor was given to In God We Trust in 1956 by an Act of Congress (36 U.S.C. § 302.)

isn't that just an oxymoron......

Bang A Gong or rug? It's also time to procrate the NO NEW TAX PARTY Countywide. If the County REPS want to commit suicide-so be it. The NO NEW TAXES PARTY can fill the vaccuum. Mike O'Connor will be the first of many.

Must be you learned math from Barney Frank. 512 votes to JS, out of 812 voters. Sixty three percent. Highest vote total and highest percentage of victory. Didn't get the backing of the five families either.

Or those who are "in the know."

I agree with Cicero...far from over.  The No New Tax Party candidates have a LARGE group of concerned voters that really want much needed change.  Go NNTP in November!

Hey clubhouse, how many Conservatives are there in Rottendam?  About 700 voted for the Marchinkowski/O'Connor race, and it was almot 50/50.  There are Dems, Reps, Cons, and unafiliated voters all looking for major change.  Expect NNTP to shine in November!

Again, 812 Republicans went to the voting booth. Try to comprehend that many skipped voting for either of the two. They didn't know enough of either and apparently neither one was able to define themselves to the primary voter such that they could gather a majority of them. That is kind of where paying your dues comes in. Mike got a lot of publicity the past month, but still wasn't able to persuade the majority of Republican people to pull his lever. Stan could not either, despite being appointed. Appointed members are treated harshly at the polls in town. Witness recent history.

In reality those who identify themselves as "fiscal conservatives" tend to be enrolled Republicans more likely than in any other group including Independence, non-enrolled, and Democrats. Conservatives in this county tend to be aligned a slightly different way and the small number of voters tends to be largely a function of a few people and groups being able to effectively (and successfully for sure!) rally their voters and get them out. The brand "conservative" and the party "Conservative" are two different things as we should all admit. A Republican needs to be able to get "fiscal conservatives" to the polls, not only in primaries, but in generals to win. If he/she does not, he or she have little chance of success. Take that to the bank. An entire brand has to be damaged as we witnessed in 1997(town), or 2005-7 (county) for a party to get a trounce and the challengers to get a sweep or near sweep.

Lazzari was mentioned in regards to 1997 and the clean sweep against all odds. Let me open up and shine some light...She was not "supposed to win" by conventional standards in this clique-y town. She had four things going for her that gained her admittance via the "in the knows"( thanks Sal- you helped shape our lexicon) and via the general voting public. The "in the knows" who ran the minor parties had no faith in this newcomer (she actually ran and lost in 1995-check the facts) who really "wasn't" a newcomer...

Her reputation as a fiscal public analyst for several years prior including her "Report on Rotterdam" being published along with her many other skilled analysis' in newspaper editorials. Her involvement in professional groups and her excellent business reputation as an investment professional to numerous people in town; Her rep as an environmental activist in fighting the dump and in fighting for clean water; and lastly she had some bald guy as her campaign manager who pushed her from one end of town to the other meeting, greeting and working to overcome what was supposed to be a beating from an aged yet worthy incumbent with 30 years or more of public service. The bald guy already had about 5 years of door to door behind the scenes experience and included in that was his willingness to stand up to party bosses.

So before you get your apples and your oranges mixed...read the above again.

GB IS a student of history and likeS to study it to gain insight into what could happen and how one could avoid mistakes in the future. A plan for success is never a "fly by night" thing nor is it a "get rich quick" scheme. Dues must be paid...if only for laying the foundation to a road upon which one travels through twists and turns, up hills and around bends...leading to the constant unexpected.

...the unexpected...

Congrats to jsuhrada. But the question of the day is....how well would he have done if he ran for the county leg? Does anyone think he would have faired as well? Probably not. And the rep party knew that. So he was placed in a safer, smaller more reachable seat. A town seat. The reps actually saved face for him since he probably would have not faired well at all, at the county level.

Kinda like a kosiur thing if ya really think about it. Not a bad thing though....the dems helped one of their own, and the reps do the same.

You say that those who identify themselves as fiscal conservatives enroll Republican.  I would have agreed with you a few years ago, but since the GW Bush bailout, medicare prescription drug bill, the Republican controlled Congress's deficit spending spree when they were in power, and now Obama's record spending. The fiscal conservatives are left wondering where to turn to find this fiscal conservative representation in government.

In light of all that is going on economically in the County and Nation, I believe this is a perfect storm, making it possible to motivate and mobilize non party affiliated voters to come to the polls and vote for candidates who are not your traditional two major party candidates.  The petitions signed by the registered blank is encouraging, and shows me that people are fed up with the two party system, and are excited to vote for a third party line that hold no ties to a behind the scene party boss.

The No New Tax Party line is a historical mark in Schenectady County.  Those who "paid their dues" don't want to see a "fly by night" succeed.  As in the case of Mike O'Connor now having 2 lines on the ballot, beating a candidate who "paid his dues".  I believe this is going to bring some excitement to this off year election, whatever the outcome.

We'll see if paying your dues carries more weight with the voter than the integrity of the message.

Just wait until November...when people can vote line F.  Just remember that for the primaries, NOBODY could vote for the entire No New Tax Party.  Many of the people who signed their petitions were not enrolled in a party, plus those who were enrolled in a party could only vote for half of the party at most (2 for Republicans or 2 for Conservatives).  In November, anybody can vote for ALL 4!

Nobody "places" Joe S anywhere! Furthermore, it is a more DEMOCRATIC LEANING SEAT to run for! Joe S took that race himself on his own volition and knew it was a tougher race. Duanesburg has been VERY GOOD to Joe S and would be even more so. Facts are to be found in the numbers. Why is everything some orchestrated conspiracy of puppet masters pulling on someone's strings? THAT IS SO AMUSING BUT SO FRUSTRATING TO HAVE TO READ OVER AND OVER AGAIN!!!!

But I am sure Joe S would love to be cast the underdog, so go right ahead. He can't possibly win, it was and is all a fluke. They saw his name and thought he was Obama's cousin. Obvious there is some voodoo involved. Maybe he secretly blackmailed everyone. He isn't in the in crowd. Doesn't matter how many doors he knocks. Didn't go to Draper. Couldn't get the former chief of police to put his signs up. Doesn't go to the Harley rendezvous and doesn't even own a Harley. Doesn't work out at the 'in' gym (obviously) and Joe Geloso, Mallozis, builders, bar owners and all the other high rollers didn't bankroll him. Hell, he isn't even seen at all the hotspots elbowing the bar. He is doomed. I think Joe S enjoys that kind of prediction, it makes it fun for him. He likes a challenge I think. So say what you will, maybe even the election booths malfunctioned and somehow he started with 300 more votes than John M. Just keep making it fun, and funny!!!!

But we all know doing that (voting for all 4 )will hand the election to the Democrats so you might as well get your Birkenstocks on, slap the "Stop Global Warming" sticker on your new Smartcar, get a nose ring, put a peace sign tattoo on your arm, and start attending Code Pink rallies now, because you will have done more to advance the cause of the Democrat party (at least in this town) than they could ever dream of doing themselves...and as Barry G. said "In your heart you know I'm right."
