I, along with everyone else on this board, have a right to respond to posts.  I'll gladly point out any views or ideologies I disagree with.  I think it's important to have FACTS about issues and candidates.  You make it seem as if being a gun owner is something negative, then question whether it's true.  I am proud to be a gun owner, and I'm sure FDG is too...it's our right under the 2nd Amendment, as MT said.

The residents of this town need to call the candidates what they are, and point out what they're not...steer clear from misrepresentations, and irrelevant babble.

/me is a proud gun owner also.

We all respond to posts. Sometimes nicely and sometimes not. Sometimes calm and sometimes not. As far a irrelevant babble, there is plenty of that too. Whether we agree with each other or not, doesn't really matter. It all makes us think!

And I think (know) I'm voting for the NNTP only!

And yes.....fdg is or at least was and avid hunter. And that don't make him a bad person. I just don't think he would be the best choice for rotterdam town supervisor. IMHO

Just because Del Gallo's not a great speaker lets throw him under the bus with Mayor Son of Sam? What business has Son of Sam ever run? lol. Right he answered the phone for the accidental Gov back when he was a State Senator. Great experience? Look at the results-spending has doubled in 6 years with taxes through the roof.

I'll take a chance with the tax cutter businessman over a bs incumbent-anytime. Clean out the barn.

Be careful what you wish for. Stratton should not be mayor for one reason or another and fdg should not be supervisor for one reason or another. Yer mixing apples and oranges here. IMHO

Guns are not dangerous.  Untrained people with guns are dangerous. We have the RIGHT to defend ourselves, period, end of conversation.

Get it right and stop drinking the kook-aid.

I don't know, but from what I've observed, it's not the puppets but the master(s) we should be concerned about with the No Tax Party.

TBV,

Not sure to who you are referring.  I don't know of any "masters".  The four of us, Mertz, McGarry, O'Connor and myself are four independent candidates who are united by our fiscal conservatism and a pledge to control government spending and freeze the tax levy.  Make no mistake about it, the only masters that I will have when elected are the residents who I am elected to serve.

Reading this blog made me look at them.  As a party, I don't think, and I could be VERY wrong,  they still don't have
the gravitas to make it.

Cal,

I'm not certain what you mean by "gravitas".  If you mean that we are not part of the two-party system, you are correct.  All but one of us has never served in elected office before though each of us have been advocates for our community.  I view those characteristics as positives as we bring to government a fresh perspective; one that is based only on our experience as residents, neighbors, parents, wage earners, taxpayers, etc. and not party insiders.

When I decide for who I will vote, I look for candidates who I perceive to be honest, possess respectable character and personal integrity, share my principles and values, and who have a genuine desire to serve ALL of the residents of Rotterdam (and in my case Schenectady county) regardless of the political party in which they are enrolled.

Speaking for myself, I decided to run independent of the conventional two party political system because of my belief that the system has failed to place the peoples' interests first.  It has been uncomfortable at times.  It has resulted in much more work than if I had a party organization behind me.  It has strained relationships with some who I view as good people but who are now working against my campaign.   But, I have no regrets.  I would make the same decision and charter the same course if I were given the chance again.

If either of you have interest in speaking with me, to discuss your views or inquire about mine, I am available and welcome your call.  Simply e-mail me or send me a private message and I will provide to you my personal cell phone number.  And, as for the NNTP candidates, we will be back on doorsteps in the coming days!  I look forward to meeting and speaking with each of you.

I believe that with all of my heart.

It's not you, or McGarry or O'Connor that anyone is questioning that with.  All independent, newcomers with a conservative message.  There is one "oldcomer," however, and he has ties all over...are we supposed to believe that strings aren't being pulled, and debts won't be owed if he wins?  We've already heard about the petitions, and who got the signatures.

I'm just afraid of what those debts might be!

TBV,

I cannot speak to what is in others' heads or hearts.  I will say, however, that if I didn't trust in or believe in those who are
running with me on the NNTP slate, I would not have aligned myself with them.  I suspect that they share this sentiment.

Over the course of the past six months, we have spent a great deal of time together.  Despite several spirited "debates",
we have formed a friendship that can withstand our differences of opinion.  I am honored to count Mike, Brian and John among
my friends.

I believe that our slate offers to residents an alternative.  Each of us has different experiences, skills, strengths, and, (I
suppose) weaknesses, but all of us share a desire to serve and to provide to residents a voice and a role in government.

I will repeat for emphasis, that I have no "masters" in the political arena to who I owe any favors.  Nor, am I anyone's
"puppet".  I will work to represent the views and interests of my constituents and rely on my traditional conservative
principles and ideals to gude me.

Then don't vote for Mertz and move on. What the NNTP accomplished is significant. To get hundreds of signatures from people that have had it with tweedle dee and tweedle dum. They will be the biggest 3rd party in total votes in November. Michael O'Connor will be seated. It will spread Countywide. There are already people in the City and Nisky ready to expand the NO NEW TAXES PARTY. It's a start and it's long overdue.

Still waiting to hear what the problem is with Mr. Del Gallo. A gun owner? A successful businessman?  He doesn't go to enough bored meetings? A tsunami is coming and some of you better realize it. A combination of incompetence Countywide and inability to deal with other party leaders.

SO WHAT if anyone engages in the American tradition of gun ownership? Without an armed populace there would be no liberty and the only thing that an armed citizenry is dangerous too is a TYRANT! That is why the strange marriage of DelGallo, Vellano and these far liberal dems is a very odd communion indeed.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Let's remember that mertzie got the boot for NOT going along. He stood up and fought for the taxpayers. Just check the REAL record...not the nonsense rhetoric. I believe mertzie has a rep ideology....but will not go along just to get along. Obviously. So he appears to have ties or debts or strings to NO ONE! IMHO
