Improvements for troublesome corner is on city's agenda

Q: My concern is about the three-way corner where Albany Street meets Kings Road in Schenectady. When turning left from Albany Street onto Kings Road, it is extremely difficult to see oncoming traffic (due to bushes in the spring and summer and snowbanks in the winter). There is no left turn lane here and no designated time for cars to turn left. Traffic continuing in the opposite direction on Albany Street cannot see cars turning left onto Kings Road, which is very dangerous.
I have had many close calls at this intersection and hope that this issue can be resolved.

A: Good news for you. Improving that intersection is literally on the agenda.
When the Schenectady City Council meets tonight, it is scheduled to vote on a plan to improve that very intersection. You may hear about it directly by venturing to City Hall at 6 this evening.
The project includes replacing all the poles and equipment as well as moving the pedestrian crosswalks at the intersection of Albany Street and Kings Road, Deputy City Clerk Chuck Thorne informs us. Bids for the work were sent out earlier this summer, and the council is expected to act on it tonight.
