SCHENECTADY
Pratt named county health commissioner

BY MICHAEL LAMENDOLA Gazette Reporter
Reach Gazette reporter Michael Lamendola at 395-3114 or lamend@dailygazette.com

Schenectady County has a new commissioner of public health.
Dr. David S. Pratt’s first day on the job was Monday. Pratt is certified in internal medicine and pulmonary disease and has a master’s in public health. His salary is $129,400.
Pratt, of Rexford, replaces Dr. Russell A. Fricke, who retired after 16 years on the job.
Susan Savage, D-Niskayuna, chairwoman of the Schenectady County Legislature, said Pratt is “an accomplished person. He has great credentials and we are fortunate to find someone with his background.”
Dr. Brian Gordon, D-Niskayuna, chairman of the Legislature’s Health Committee, said Pratt is superbly qualified for the job, especially in the area of communicable disease prevention programs. While with GE, he developed the company’s pandemic flu business continuity plan.
Gordon said the county will benefit from his expertise should there be an outbreak of H1N1 influenza, formerly known as swine flu, in Schenectady County. Earlier this year, the nation was gripped by fears that the flu would cause serious medical problems.
“We will have someone in position with the appropriate planning and vast knowledge in this field,” Gordon said.
Pratt was not available for comment, but Gordon said Pratt is interested in community health issues and wants to make a difference in this area. ...........>>>>...............>>>>.............http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01003&AppName=1

"Dr Pratt was not available for comment"? LOL!

It's his first week on the job. He will fit right in with all the other County employees who hide from the media and public they are allegedly serving.

So, are all the doctors smart enough that there's not one that actually lives in the county to have them in this position?  If you're going to have jobs at the county level, shouldn't it at least be a county resident?  I would think so.

That used to be the requirement for teachers too......look at Schenectady city schools.....

they 'come into the zone' do their duty, pat themselves on the back, collect their pay and leave.....

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
