The area between Curry and Helderberg has some nice houses available - all would match your wish list. A 4br 2.5 bath near my mom just sold - asked $244 - accepted $145. Ya. the market sucks for sellers right now.
There's my in-laws house on a corner lot in Highbridge, 3br (really 5, but not legally), 2 full baths, full basement, 1 car garage. New paint, floors, needs some kitchen updates, but both baths were just redone. It's gonna sell for a SONG very soon (think $120's)

Unfortunately once the reval was completed there isn't any way to undo it short of a new reval which isn't going to happen for a long time as the county council like things just the way they are.
A new reval will just push up the taxes even higher, there is no way they are going to lower them, they just will let them sit and let the times make them fair again 10 years from now..

It's not the reval....it's the past admins who drag their feet sucking of the state via equalization and sucking $$ via GE union and GE taxes.....

I dont want to own a home that is worth crap....how about you.....unless you plan on flipping and you plan on staying it is good to own homes with higher 'value/assessment'.......the cost is ALWAYS in the levy.....just like the interest on a credit card......
that is why the government pushes the American dream of homeownership.....Clinton opened up the faucet when he was in office.....all for the 'underserved'.....so here we are lapping up the dirty water and paying higher taxes.....
