NYS to require new license plates
08/03/2009 04:36 PM
By: Steve Ference

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Scott Sullivan of Albany said, "License plates don't really bother me too much."

You may not think about them much.

"As long as it's legible there should be no reason to turn it in," Sullivan continued. "It's kind of sad really."

But your license plates will cost you. Beginning in April when you renew your vehicle registration, you'll need to purchase a new set.

Rensselaer County Clerk Frank Merola said, "Every single car, every single truck out there will pay the $25 one-time fee. If you opt to keep the same plate number, you'll see a one-time fee of an additional $20 - so upwards of $45."

If I buy the new license plate, can I at least get free rides on the Thruway for a year?  Is this something that Amedore approved of?

NYS is trying to get rid of the businesses that have a large fleet of vehicles to pay for and force them to move to a state that's more business friendly.People are unemployed, business profits down, people and businesses leaving the state, solution raise taxes and fees on everyone. Take a look at California because that's what we're going to be like very soon, they didn't cut spending either until it was too late.

The link in the initial posting is broken.  What is the stated rationale for requiring all New York residents to purchase new license plates?  Other than a cash grab by our state government.

There is nothing wrong with my current plates.

It's highway robbery. Bravo to both George Amedore and Jimmy Tedisco for opposing this.

The State refuses to cut any budgets or layoff anyone. Expect more idiotic raises in fees and taxes. Supported by unelected Gov Paterson.

Sounds like the Democrats need a few more "yes" votes to replace those trouble making naysayers! I want to hear the blog clown act defend their democrat brothers on this one.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Those stupid bast**rds are going to tax us to death! Ya know, the reps did nothing when they were in charge and now the dems are doing even worse. Perhaps we should force a primary with the no new tax party at all levels of government someday, huh?

Sounds good to me.....I wonder if the 'new tax' is a skim off of the 'cash for clunkers'......

pay attention to the gangsta gumbas.....racketeering is their business......

and we are worried about the gangbangers in Schenectady......

gangsta gumbas are the slime in the sewers......
