Fr. Urban doesn't care about taxes - he doesn't pay them, and will be out of "office" in a few short months (not soon enough if you ask me).

Not really sure why yall are concerned about the baiters opinions anyway - just take them for what they are, bull$hit.

Actually, he does pay property taxes as he is a property owner in Rotterdam.    But he is not engaged in this
conversation so there is no need to bring up his name in regard to  this issue.

As for MC's long rant ... I guess he/she forgot to take his/her meds again because I have never said that
we should raise taxes on the poor.

I reiterate my belief that Pat Zollinger, Mertz, O'Connor, and McGarry would do more harm than good
if elected.     That is my opinion .. I am entitled to it .. and they will never get my support or my vote.

As for tax hikes ... i seem to remember a few of the Republican sycophants in here saying how well Glenville
is run compared to the rest of Schenectady County   ---- if you believe that a 6% tax increase is a good way
to run a town ... then I will start telling everyone that  MC and his crowd support higher taxes for everybody
because that is what you seem to be endorsing.

Not questioning your belief here, just genuinely curious.

In what ways would Pat's passion to have a government "for the people" instead of "for themselves"...  Do harm to our city?

That isn't the leading question it might sound...  I don't always agree with Pat's methods, but I don't see how anyone could ever fault her intentions...  Her passion to save our city.

In almost every sense - quality of life is going DOWN in this city.  The only exception to that is a 3-4 block area in downtown.  Things are not getting better - they are getting worse, and while it isn't just Schenectady - it's the whole entitlement based system throughout the state and country that is failing...  Schenectady is falling faster than the average.

Those that think it is actually getting better - and I mean no disrespect to anyone here...  Are quite simply lying, ignoring the facts that are blatantly obvious, or just delusional.

You can't have unemployment going up, crime going up, taxes going up, our trade deficit at record highs, manufacturing down in the country, and future entitlement costs skyrocketing, and actually think things are getting better.

It's just insane.

Delusional is the right word. Pat has been right for years about the problems in the City. And the implosion of the City is worsened by the exact people that DVOR cheers on. The last new car dealership fleeing the City is a positive development? Stop reading from the Metrograft/DEM hymnal.

The illegal revelations since Election Day have only proven how much we need people like Pat {new taxpayer watchdogs} on the City Council/County Legislature. To his credit he supported Chris Gibson but that was the stopped clock being correct twice a day.

I supported Chris Gibson because he was a Siena alum that I went to school with AND whom I
know has the TALENT and ABILITY to do well in the job  -- I may only agree with 70% of what he says ..
but I know that he will do a good job.

Mertz .. has proven that he has no guiding principles but to better himself ... and i question his talent
and ability since he never showed evidence of either.

The other 3 ... i seriously question their talent and ability to run a municipal government.

Passion does not translate into ability to actually do the job.    IMHO she would not be a good Mayor ...
maybe a member of the City Council  ..but not Mayor

And this is why third line independent candidates will be the 'only' voice of choice. The dems are corrupt and the reps offer nothing! Third line independents 'say it like it is' since they are not beholden to ANY party or party boss. They are ONLY beholden to the taxpayers.

Pat offers FACTS and SOLUTIONS! She always did!! She just needs to be on the 'other' side of the rail to make a difference for the taxpayers!

Not ONE rep has openly stated, for the record, about the illegal activity of the mayor! NOT ONE! There is apparently not even ONE honest dem or con out there that will state for the record about the illegal activity of the mayor.

Pat not only stated and proved it was illegal.......she openly and for the record asked for the mayor's resignation!! KUDOS TO PAT!!

Right! For that alone Pat Z should be considered for Mayor. Instead of spying at Alliance Party meetings some to these DEM/REP committee hacks should sound off about the Mayor's "doings".

Someone needs to put out an APB for the City Rep Chair. Where is she on the Mayor scandals and City DEMS cover ups? So far DVOR has been more vocal than her.

the Nattering Nayboobs of Negativity's argument is flawed and incorrect because of this fact -----

Downtown Schenectady was doing well enough that Mohawk Honda OUTGREW its
location.    The Salisbury Chevrolet property was vacant  --- so with Mohawk moving its  new car operation
to the Salisbury site and Mohawk keeping its used car operations at the Downtown site   ..... BOTH Glenville
and the City of Schenectady benefit  as does the WHOLE county.

The Nattering Nayboobs of Negativity need to stop bitching and moaning ... and start enjoying life.  There
is a lot of great stuff going on around us.  ENJOY IT

As for MC's long rant ... because I have never said that
we should raise taxes on the poor.

.

Oh really?   And would you care to tell us WHERE IN THE HECK the money comes from to pay the property and school taxes of all the wealthy individuals and businesses in downtown that are totally, 100% EXEMPT???????

Tell us how those taxes get paid.   Can you tell us?   From where doest that money come from???????

You may not have stated those words exactly, but you have shown your total support by refusing to state that it's wrong for the downtown properties to be exempt, you have shown total support for increasing taxes on the poor by refusing to state that the busineses downtown should their own property taxes

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

A number of businesses located in Downtown Schenectady have OUTGROWN their downtown sites .. and
moved to other sites over the years.

Goldstock's Sporting Goods is one example.

Central Market (now Price Chopper) used to be on Broadway across from what is now Villa Italia  outgrew
that location then moved up to Eastern Avenue (that store was where the Studio of Bridge and Games  is now
across the street from the even newer Price Chopper store).
