Working together works never meant reaching across any aisle. That's for REPS/CONS only. It means City and County DEMS dumping $100 MILLION of County sales tax revenue into 2 blocks Downtown. It meant establishment of an unelected group of political hacks, with zero planning expertise bypassing zoning laws, to administer pork.

The perfect example of working together just occurred in the City. No one at the County level had a negative comment concerning the DEM illegal pension padding scheme? That's working together-everyone looking away in unison. Scandal-what scandal? We're working together! BTW did you see the City 2011 budget? lol. Death Ray is furiously trying to spin the last new car dealership in the City fleeing as some positive development. Thought he was hired to increase retail, tax revenues and jobs in the City. No wonder the Gazetto sat on this news for months. As far as retaining the old site for used cars who would by it?

Working Together to Fu(k the taxpayers really works great.  Now we have the same clowns "working together" to create a taxing district to secure the patronage services of this quasi- government failed Ambulance Service.  Only in Rotterdam would you reward a failed business with unlimited unsupervised access to ALS funds AND grant them a taxing district worth $250K.  Fu(king Brilliant!

AND NOT ONE ELECTED "LEADER" FROM ANY PARTY REPRESENTED ON THE TOWN BOARD HAS PUBLICALLY STATED THEIR PHILISOPHICAL POSITION ON THIS EMS TAXING DISTRICT.

Spineless Cowards!!

It was never a bipartisan concept. "Working together works" is a way to screw over County taxpayers with  smoke and mirrors, budgets that can't balance, and three card monty redevelopment efforts. Brought to you by the same idiots that take out a $50 MILLION bond and can't site a County nursing home. The growing anti-DEM machine coalition is gaining strength. Good luck retaining power in the City. 35 years is long enough.

NEWSFLASH: There will be 5 City Council Seats up next November. As I predicted weeks ago. Head for the life boats boys and girls. The jig is up.

To all of you 'third line potential candidates'...............the liberal socialist progressives are already starting with their negative campaigning.

They don't want anyone or anything to disrupt the 'empire' in schenectady county. And they obviously believe you guys/girls can!!!

Take this as a huge compliment.............!!!

Ron, you know little about what the four individuals (including myself) would do if elected.  I, however, know much
about you based on your incessant posting.

I don't know how you can have so much to say of so little substance.  Further, how you can post continuously throughout
each day is a quandry.  Most people work to support themselves and their families and don't have the time or the opportunity
to be so engaged on a message board.  Do you hold a job or do you live off the labor of others?

Based on what I have read, you, like most progressives and liberals expect others to provide for you.  You chastise
those who, through their intelligence and their labor, have achieved more than you have in life.  You support higher
property taxes in the Town of Rotterdam though you reportedly do not own property there.

One principle of our nation's Founding Fathers was equal opportunity for all men.  They did not, however, guarantee
that equal opportunity would yield equal results.

I attended your candidate forum in 2009 .. and heard enough to know what you and your buddies believe
in and to know that you would be a disaster if elected.
Despite what you and your character assassins have tried to say about me -- I am a moderate/conservative
Democrat.  You can find NOTHING to argue otherwise.
As for my how I earn my livelihood --- let's just say that I invested wisely  and can handle my affairs over
the computer.   I can manage my investments online 24 hours a day  ,, and still have time to take
graduate level courses  and volunteer time to my community and to my church.

Id like to see these politicians live downtown if they think its so great.  I know an employee of Mohawk Honda and even he told me that it was getting nasty there.  I also know of two employees that left the business because of being harassed on the lot.  Over the past 10 years, I have spent a considerable amount of time going through the Hamilton Hill area and believe me, its not a picnic in the park.  In the middle of the day time, there are shootings.  Gangs hang out on the porches and in the streets.  Daytime car break ins and theft.  The schools there were in lock down way too often.  The buildings are mostly run down and some boarded up.  But I will tell you that there are occupants inside those buildings.  Ive seen them with my own eyes.  There is a lot of gang activity in the schools and I have personally spoke to a police officer that was working on the crime statistics.  Its amazing what can be learned about downtown when you actually open your eyes and spend some time there.  Ive said it in another thread, it may look nicer with the new paint jobs, but the crime isnt going away.  Its gotten much worse over the past few years and the ones doing it are getting younger and younger.

Oh, you think Pat Z would destroy the city?   Uh would you care to tell us what your savage lady and her buddies have done?

Tell us, while all the well heeled are exempt from paying taxes, and while the low income people struggle more and more with every passing year and the low income have to pay taxes for the rich, what has happened?

The city has been destroyed by savcage.

DV, have you seen how the crime rate has skyrocketed in the city?
DV, have you seen the how the percent of vacant houses in the city has reached an all time record in the history of the city
DV, have you seen how the taxes are among the highest in the country
DV, have you seen how people are putting their houses up for sale trying to get out of town FAST
DV, have you seen how people have just given up and are abandoning their homes, thus a dramatic increase in tax foreclosures
DV, have you seen how dangerous the city is?
DV, have you seen that CHILDREN have been shot playing in a park in BROAD DAYLIGHT
DV, have you seen how the city is cuttting THE ABSOLUTE MOST VITAL service in the city---the fire dept
DV, have you seen how the your dem buddy mayor  claim the city is in such financial crisis that he says he MUST cut a large chunk of the fire dept but then he does have the money to pad the pension of a chief whose unpadded pension would have been MORE THAN TWICE the household income of city residents
DV, have you seen how the city has not done anything about burned out houses, some which have sat for a decade or more
DV, have you seen how the city has created a major traffic tie up by making the most major thoroughfare a one-lane-in-each direction. street....such that it can take a whopping half hour to drive 2 or 3 miles.
So many more examples.

DV, what Pat has done is make sure that the are no secrets.  SHE is protecting the citizens, she is the one who is the furthest away from destroying the city.  She works for the citizens, the residents, the taxpayers, all who struggle and Pat is doing everything in her power to make sure that your dem budddies are stopped from all these ILLEGAL SECRET DEALS.   PAT was the one who broke the news a few years back about your dem mayor buddy putting a raise for himself IN SECRET.  SHE is the one who will surely try to put a stop to the robbing of the low income homeowners who YOUR DEM BUDDIES are stealing from to give all kinds of handouts to the rich downtown.

HOW can any person who CLAIMS to be Catholic be in favor of raising taxes on financially struggling taxpayers in order to exempt the miliionaires from paying taxes????   What would Jesus do, DV?   Would HE make the low income pay the taxes of the rich?   Well?   Can you answer that????????     Gee, does Fr Urban support raising taxs on the struggling homeowners in order to have them pay the property taxes of the rich, especially when paying the taxes on the rich has resulted in severe loss of vital services to the city, has resulted in increase in crime, has even put innocent law abiding residents in danger, such as with that home invasion recently

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

I think he needs to go hang out in Hamilton Hill for a few days and watch what goes on there.  I just googled "Schenectady Crime Statistics" and got a whole bunch of sites that actually compared Schenectady with NYC and the crime here is nearly double what it is there.  And we all know NYC is a MUCH larger city.  And dont forget to actually check the FamilyWatchdog site for all the sex offenders that live in the city.  Near children and near the schools.  What sort of city would willingly put a Level 3, for raping an 8 year old girl, in an apartment house downstairs from 3 little girls?  How stupid is that?  This man once lived 8 houses away from me and my young daughter and the 2 little girls that lived across the street and the other two little girls that lived two house away.  Its one of the many reasons I left Schenectady.  I lived in one of the "better" neighborhoods away from downtown.  In one week, there were cars damaged and broke into and a drug house next door that was operating quite openly.  Yep, safe city.  Much improved.  Note the sarcasim.

Fr. Urban doesn't care about taxes - he doesn't pay them, and will be out of "office" in a few short months (not soon enough if you ask me).

Not really sure why yall are concerned about the baiters opinions anyway - just take them for what they are, bull$hit.

Never let a lie stand un-opposed.

I don't think DV is a troll, I think he is honestly that naive.  His arguments have been destroyed on every topic.IMO

The reality is that Schenectady USED TO be a great city. GE was booming, engineers and their families came to Schenectady for jobs and the schools (yes, in the 1960's & 1970's, the Schenectady School District was ranked in the top third of the State). Then the City became greedy and wanted more tax money from GE - in return, a large portion of their industry left the area.

Now we have changed the climate in the County, giving out welfare like water. We have attracted the unattractive from everywhere. Where there is free money, the scammers and lowlifes will come like rats to a sewer. With these lowlifes come gangs, drugs and prostitution. Schenectady wasn't even capable of fighting crime in the past decade or so as the police department was actually run by a drug dealer and his wife. The neighborhoods have so many absentee landlords that sex offenders are able to live just about anywhere. The homes are falling apart, the homeowners are paying some of highest taxes in the State...and for what?!?

-For a Mayor involved in on-going pension fraud.
-For downtown restaurants and bars to participate in a tax evasion scam with Metroplex
-For a school system run by bullies, and the convicted felon (Raucci) enjoying benefits received in yet another overtime pension fraud
-For City employees to receive free cell phones and vehicles to commute to their homes in other towns
-For the City to spend millions of taxpayer dollars repaving, new lighting and revamping a downtown area not even a 1/2 a block in area

Yes, Mohawk Honda did move the better part of its business to a nicer area and just like all of Schenectady, we are left with the used and dented shells of what used to be a great City. Working together within your own party, for your own party absolutely does not work and will never work. We need to face the reality of the grave condition our City is in. Alleviating the burden upon the taxpayers of the City and County is the number one priority. You need to keep the taxpayers here...not force them out as has been done with GE and many, many life-long residents of the City. The taxpayers are here to live, not to support a political parties back room deals and corrupt business practices.

Well Rachel, I guess you summed up schenectady perfectly!! While Schenectady politicians and appointees are off enjoying a night at proctors, or a dinner at glen sanders and then to their home 'out of the county', the taxpayers are working their a$$es off to not only keep themselves financially afloat, but to also pay for the luxuries of the political elite through their high taxes!

It is maddening!

As for Mohawk Honda....moving to glenville was the best move they ever made. Drug dealers would frequent the state st.parking lot, offering more pharmaceuticals than a drug store.
