Stony Creek Band to perform Monday on 'Today Show' Friday, July 24, 2009 By Wendy Liberatore (Contact) Gazette Reporter
The Stony Creek Band, a musical institution in the Adirondacks, will play live on NBC’s “Today Show” when it makes a stop at the Sagamore Resort in Bolton Landing on Monday. Dave Maswick, the band’s bass player, confirmed that the band has been asked to play two songs on the morning television show, which will be broadcast live from the resort with hosts Meredith Vieira and Ann Curry. Maswick said the band, which has a repertory of traditional Adirondack tunes, will likely play one instrumental, featuring principal players Fred Lantz on mandolin and Hank Soto on lead guitar, as well as one vocal tune, probably a modern, upbeat bluegrass song. “We’re pretty excited,” said Maswick. “It’s not often that we get the opportunity to play for a national audience. We’ve been working and refining what we do for more than 30 years. We feel pretty strongly about it. We’re an unusual band with an unusual sound that is regional.”.......>>>>................>>>>............http://www.dailygazette.com/news/2009/jul/24/0724_stonycreek/ |
