Get rid of the current leadership and find people (not mattering which party they come from) who have new ideas on smaller, less intrusive government.
Well, Kevin, since the thread title is "wishes" I'll go easy. What you wish for is a tall task...and one unlikely to occur in my opinion unless you're willing to wait patiently (maybe indefinitely) or jump in yourself and rock the boat. What I'm getting at is the effort and resolve to "change party leadership" (and it applies to all of the parties) is enormous. Party leadership is not and won't ever be interested in "finding people" with new ideas, especially of different party stripes. Why? It would erode their power.
My own experience so far has convinced me that good candidates are not "found" but rather emerge. They step around the party constraint and go direct to the people. I look at it this way: if you're p*ssed off about party leadership and direction, then don't complain about it and hope it will change, jump in and MAKE it change. You can direct that effort to craft new party leadership but why not just stand up on the principles you think the party ought to already have and be a candidate? The effort is comparable.
The reps as with the dems and cons need to all regain their base ideology. However, the desire to change is shadowed by power and greed. IMHO
The time is right for a grassroots movement. Whether the reps or dems are in power, things have remained the status quo. And this isat all levels of government. People are sick and tired of 'politics as usual'. I don't really evev see the cons as being a viable party any longer. They appear to have lost their passion to serve just as the others.
As for the local reps....they clearly need a change in leadership. Someone with a vision. Someone who can rally the troops. And someone who will look for 'change' when endorsing a candidate. And I'm sorry folks.....But I don't go for this cross endorsing JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE ELECTABLE! Not good enough for me! IMHO

Is it too much to ask that they actually run REP (fiscally conservative)candidates? No one for DA, no one for City Council-Sheriff is an independent-blanks or fill ins for County Legislature? No wonder there are primaries?
Could not agree with Mr. March more. Candidates must be recruited and nurtured not told "this is not the right time". No matter what time it is. Voters want a choice-not more me too REPS. Got enough of them.
so a true republican is fiscally conservative? are they so cold they do not have a heart - in relation to a minimalist safety net
and this statement / question
don't have any children you cannot afford, but our best answer is abstinence, doesn't this produce the democratic party?
what is less intrusive government from a republican stand point? dont scan my emails? this is a Bush republican question
You're mixing apples and oranges here.
When speaking of pro-creation, I believe the reps were trying to take the moral road without personal intrusion or taking away personal rights. When in fact giving the people a plumb line to guide their decisions regarding reproduction. They appeared to verbally guide the nation into self control to harness their free sexual desires as opposed to...'here are some condoms, birth control pills and the address to the nearest abortion clinic, and we'll pay for it'.
Bush and intrusive government was a result of 911. Is that a good enough excuse? Perhaps not. But it does carry some merit considering this nation had just received a major butt kicking, with more people out there wanting to kick it even more.
In short....911 and Bush was an 'act - react' senerio by protecting the citizens of a nation. (national security)
Pro-creation is a human element. Not a case of national security. IMHO

Yes, remember, the original reason for separation from the Mother Country to start the Republic was taxation without representation and suppression.

Not necessarily, they just believe in the goodness of the individual...that it doesn't take someone taking your money from you to redistribute it to make the community better. In fact, it says that you should be able to keep more...or be able to distribute it as you wish. The more of your own money you keep, the more you can decide how to spend or donate.

No, the new (progressive / liberal) democratic party believes that abstinance is not something that you need to worry about. In fact, Republicans believe that each person will be responsible. the Democratic Party (majority) believes that "my daughters shouldn't be punished for a mistake that they make." (Senator, President Barack Obama when he was running with Barack Obama for the presidency last year (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GbZJYWjkAPo)).

This is one of the things that Bush was absolutely wrong with. It was an overreaction after the time of 9/11 and taking away rights of the people. Many Republican's were saying that he was absolutely wrong about this...as well as the first bailout.
republicans favor markets unfettered by the government the state has a role in providing roads, canals, schools and bridges that cannot be efficiently implemented by private entities reduction in overall government spending free trade lower taxes the right not to participate in unions safety net to assist the less fortunate stricter punishments as a means to prevent crime
markets unfettered or capitalism unfettered.....and I mean both ways here......one cannot own a business that is in contract with government AND hold a government office,,,,,,and I dont give a rats a@# if it is 'another family member' in charge of it.......
reduction in overall government spending on what? priorities please......
state responsibility of roads/bridges etc......like the NYS unholy aliance of the canal and NYS Thruway????? business owners in government seats?---see above.......
I think NYS has a monkey infestation......
...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......
The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
