The Schenectady County Environmental Advisory Council (SCEAC) will present a workshop, its third public forum on energy issues, on Climate Smart Communities. The workshop will be held on Monday, July 20, 2009 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. in the McChesney Room of the Schenectady County Library Main Branch. On April 14, 2009, the Schenectady County Legislature passed a resolution adopting a Climate Smart Communities pledge, making Schenectady County one of 38 municipalities and counties in New York to sign the pledge. Climate Smart Communities commit to setting goals to reduce carbon emissions and acting to achieve those goals by decreasing energy demand, utilizing renewable energy sources, promoting climate protection through community land use planning, and realizing the benefits of climate smart waste management practices.
Program speakers include Mark Lowery, Climate Project Coordinator, Office of Climate Change, NYS Department of Environmental Conservation; Denise Sheehan, Eastern Regional Director, The Climate Registry; and Missy Stults, Regional Manager, ICLEI Local Governments for Sustainability.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
SCHENECTADY — County officials are seeking the public’s input to devise a climate action plan that will help conserve energy and ultimately save money. Spokesman Joe McQueen said the county is devising a climate action plan that will help allot priorities for energy conservation projects and provide a comprehensive framework for environmental initiatives. To help facilitate public input, the county has posted an online survey for residents so that legislators can prioritize conservation efforts and possibly develop new ideas that will help guide future initiatives. The 30-question survey is available at www.schenectadycounty. com until Saturday.
