SCHENECTADY — A teacher was injured and one student arrested today following a fight at the city school district’s Career Center at Steinmetz.
The incident happened just before 1 p.m. Police spokesman Sgt. Eric Clifford said somebody pulled a fire alarm and students evacuated the school at 880 Oakwood Ave. While the students were outside, some of them started fighting.
“A total of three teachers were pushed. One of them actually fell to the ground and suffered a scratch over his arm,” he said.

Thomas Lennon, one of the students present, said he believed the fight was gang-related, but Clifford said there is no confirmation of gang involvement.
