BTW-----why do we think there is a bus route closer to Rotterdam? Certainly not for Poedunk Rotterdam's use..........

Hey....stupid question here....why are they repaving route 7 where the new golub proposed road is suppose to go? It seems that they are spending money to pave this road, when soon enough it will be ripped up, re-routed and re-paved.

Because it's election time.  They had a plan to repave roads and they want the people to remember how smooth their ride is to the polls.  More votes  distance for the dollar.

ROTTERDAM
Golub revises plan to relocate road
Company’s suggestions include trees, noise barrier, sidewalks, drainage

BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter

Golub Corp. officials are hoping a slate of proposals will help allay residential discontent over their project to relocate a 900-foot stretch of Dunnsville Road.
Representatives from Price Chopper’s parent company included several new measures to lessen the potential impact of relocating the street to an area about 200 feet away from the edge of a 32-house development along Dolan Drive. The changes to the project were included in Golub’s final environmental impact statement, which was accepted by the Rotterdam Planning Commission during its meeting Wednesday.
The 111-page document will now be reviewed by the commission. Senior Planner Peter Comenzo said commission members could return recommendations during the next board meeting this month or in early December.
Substantive changes to the plan include a relocation of a 14-foot noise wall from the edge of National Grid’s 172-foot-wide rightof-way abutting the residential development to an area along the relocated Dunnsville Road. Noise barriers would also be added along the site entrance.
Golub is also proposing to add sidewalks along Route 7, which would be widened as part of the project. Drainage improvements would be made on Dunnsville Road as part of the relocation. ..................>>>>.................>>>>..........................................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01004&AppName=1

Sounds good to me, but I don't live on Dolan Drive.

ROTTERDAM
Golub plans move ahead
Road relocation zoning change gets panel’s OK

BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter

Rotterdam’s Planning Commission advanced the Golub Corp.’s proposed relocation of a 900-foot stretch of Dunnsville Road so that the company can one day build a gigantic warehouse facility in the area.
Planning Commission members unanimously passed a resolution that adopted the findings in the company’s fi - nal environmental impact statement and forwarded the proposed zoning change to the Town Board with positive recommendation. The approval signifies the first step in a long line of approvals the project requires before becoming a reality, chairman Lawrence DiLillo told about two dozen residents attending the commission meeting Tuesday.
In addition to requiring town approval, the project will also be scrutinized by the state Department of Transportation due to the proposed widening of Route 7 and relocation of a traffic signal. Schenectady County also will need to weigh in on the project because Golub is proposing to move a countyowned road.
“Each one of those agencies will have to issue findings on the project,” DiLallo said.
The approval came to the dismay of Dolan Drive residents who fear that the proposed relocation and the construction of a massive warehouse near their homes will seriously affect their quality of life. But some residents of the road were not surprised by the commission’s approval and still hold out hope that the project won’t become a reality. ....................>>>>...................................>>>>....................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00903&AppName=1

Quote from article:  Robert Godlewski, one of the newly elected members of the Democratic majority, said the incoming board hasn’t been provided with enough information to make an informed decision about the project. He said they plan to arrange meetings with both affected residents and representatives from the Golub Corp. before reaching a position sometime next year.
“We’re really not going to take a position on it yet because we can’t,” he said.

The Dems ran for office but weren't involved enough in town matters to be able to make an informed decision????
The Golub expansion is one of the largest development projects in Rotterdam and they know nothing?  Let's get
on board here and protect the quality of life for the residents in that neighborhood!  This is a great opportunity for the Dems to prove that they are in office to advocate for the residents, not the developers and big businessmen of
Rotterdam!

This zoning change and the relocation of Dunnsville Road would have been approved regardless of if
the Republicans maintained control of town government or if the incoming Democratic town board
makes the call.  In my opinion, the only difference is which party and what elected officials benefit
from approving it.

Residents be damned.  Money talks.

Now the Democrats can stop it, no problem. Once they are "provided" with enough of the "secret" information that has been "withheld" from them by the Trilateralists.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

I've said it before and I'll say it again.....how many years has it been since golub bought up all of those homes? Everyone knew what they were planning. Now the residents are 'shocked'?

I don't care if the dems or reps are sitting in town hall. Here's the choice they will be faced with......let golubs build which would add to the tax base and keep them here....OR.....tell them 'no' and let them move out lock, stock and barrel and lose the tax base.
