N.J. firm purchases Quality Roofing
SCHENECTADY — A national distributor of roofing, siding, windows and related building materials has purchased Quality Roofing Supplies of Schenectady, a 35-yearold privately held, family-owned business. Bradco Supply Corp., of Avenel, N.J., announced the purchase Tuesday. The purchase price was not disclosed. Bradco will continue operating the company’s facilities on Van Guysling Avenue, continue to employ former owners Fred Bogdon Jr. and Lori Bogdon Appel as managers, and maintain a staff of more than 30 employees, according to company officials. As part of the acquisition, the Bogdon family paid off a loan it had from the Metroplex Development Authority, said Chairman Ray Gillen. “They owed $225,000 on the loan, and they paid it in full Thursday,” he said. The family used the $312,000 Metroplex loan toward construction of a $1.35 million, 19,000-square-foot distribution center off Edison Avenue in 2006. Founded in 1966, Bradco operates more than 130 locations in 30 states, including offices in Albany, Rochester and Syracuse. Quality supplies contractors and builders with commercial and residential roofing, siding and windows. It also operates a metal fabricating operation and a door and window facility at its Van Guysling Avenue location.
