I was thinking Lou Albano
So anyone can do a show-love to see Pat Z and Vince R get together, just imagine their list of guests.
But then OSM probably wouldn't show it.

According to the Gazetto OSM coverage is far superior to SACC-TV! They must love the ceiling shots, technical break downs whenever a machine opponent dares to speak and the nonstop promotions. At a recent County meeting the camera was focused on Landslide Savage no matter who spoke. Working together works!

Instead of a solid community station we get 3 unwatchable jokes. This is all about having Mercury Morris shake the money tree. His theatre loses over a million a year so he can make it up on coffee, catering halls and Time Warner sheeple paying for OSM stations they never watch.

According to OSM there's nothing else of importance in Schenectady but Savage, SOS, and Death Ray, no peeking behind the curtains there's nothing to see there.

Personally, i 'd rather watch the new cable channel that shows paint drying  than watch OSM.

Although I do not agree with the manner or methods used to kick out SACC-TV nor do like the fact the PEG committee is limited to the Mayor, Morris and McCarthy, there should be others from the public included on that committee and I especially am still shocked and angered at how they treated Mr. Harnden... I do appreciate the fact both the Schenectady City Council meetings and Committees meetings are televised on the "Government" channel.  How else would we get it?  There is no other way.  PBS isn't interested in the Public side of what they were supposed to be doing in the communities.

As others have mentioned there are some really strange types of programs on the "Public Access" channel I believe that there is the aspect of freedom of speech and expression, of course long as it isn't yelling fire in a theater.

The way we always "got it", through a non-biased entity like SACC and Mr. Harden. There is no longer a "Government Channel', it's the DEM channel. As Benny said, not filming the ENTIRE meeting (outraged speakers and all) or the LEG meetings showcase of Savage. It's become a channel that shows the public only what the DEMS want them to see.

It's just like PRAVDA (pre-1991) and the Gazetto, not allowing the public to form their own opinion of the truth - it's the DEM opinions of what should be true.

the cable channel in the berkshires does a great job of presenting public meetings -- they turn the camera on and let it run for the whole meeting  ..  every meeting that they cover

THAT is what public access tv is supposed to be -- at least for public meetings --  tape the WHOLE thing and play it as it unfolded - without editing.

You are absolutely correct.

I would suggest the towns to NOT give OMS one dime!!! For the town board meetings.....for the people who can...get off your a$$es and attend one. For those who can't, get the dvd and play it at the senior centers or offer them at your town hall to the residents.

I'm sure agreements can be met between the towns and their videographer. It could be streamed on the internet. The options are endless.....the towns need to figure out which application is best for them.

At least the towns would be guaranteed an unedited version without the rest of the crap that osm puts out now.

YOu just can't handle watching the taxpayers criticizing the city for the dems mis-using the taxpayers' money.  YOu just can't handle watching the city residents and taxpayers telling the mayor and the council the truth

Public access was much better when it was not run by the LOL (lack of leadership) team in the city/county, aka the SOS (symbols of socialism)

OSM is "state run" TV, just like in those communist countries

Actually, the problem with OSM is that there are huge gaps in there schedule when no meeting is being aired --that is what I meant about preferring to watch paint dry --- it is like the old days (before 24-7 programming) waiting for static to go  away and actually be able to see a tv program.

The Public Access, Education, and Government (PEG)  channels are something the FCC required at one time. Not sure they are a requirement any more.  The City of Schenectady chooses to utilize them.  There has always been 3 channels dedicated for these uses.

All we ever actively used was the Public Access channel.  I think the last few years there was some programing on the Education channel.  The third channel, Government was never used because the third channel was technically just about usable.  All three channels now function.

The kicker is they just raised the PEG contribution 30%  40 cents to 52 cents that is not OSM's doing it is the "City of Schenectady" agreeing to the amount of the PEG fee in the franchise agreement.  An agreement signed for 10 years which is outrageous.

For sure!!...SACC-TV and Mr. Harnden did all they could to be a non-biased entity.

I only watch the Schen City Council and Committees meetings and I know they do not "only" show the public what the DEMS want.  The Council meeting is fed live and the Committees meetings are taped in one continuous record with no editing of the content.  If all we have is a Democratically controlled City andCounty government then what do you think they are going to show on the Government Channel?

Where are our opinions controlled on the Government Channel?  In fact these airings of the meetings on the Government Channel help us form our opinions, in particular the City Committees meeting where we see the council figure out how they make their decisions.  (It can be scary).

Don't know about the County, Towns or Village feeds are they edited?  They should never be edited that is very wrong. Who is doing the editing the owner of the program or OSM? I'd be ticked too!!

Trying to recall when or if I ever saw a Schenectady City Council meeting or Committees meeting edited.  They haven't as far as can be recalled.  There have been technical snafus and I remember once that the feed went to black from the production room but I can't recall if that was ordered by the City Council president or Mayor that particular night.

It was not right the way OSM took control, taking the public right out of PEG.  It was shocking but the technical broadcast qualities OSM is offering now are ok, before we couldn't even use channel 18.  Keep in mind though I don't think that SACC-TV had the support that Morris gets now.

On the Government Channel if there are problems with the technical quality of a particular government or public meeting playback this is what OSG is given from the City, Towns, Villages or County.

At present the villages, towns and city get 5 playbacks of their government meetings per week including the live feed of the city council meetings.  I don't know how many times the County and other public meetings are aired but we have never had this much coverage before.  The schedule was filled up on the Public Access channel years ago so they couldn't offer us that many feeds.  Now that we have a working Gov channel OSM can offer this.

We are hearing more and seeing more of our government in action then we ever had before.

If you don't want to pay a PEG fee to have your Town or Village public and government meetings aired on OSM let your town and village folks know you don't, be vocal.  OSM can just stop airing them no big deal except many folks will not have as easy of a time being kept as aware of government happenings in their community as they have now.

Me ducks now.

Cel, when I was referring to "Pravda", I was specifically pointing out the OSM video on page 9 of this thread. McCarthy specifically states that SACC never gave back the $100K+, Barber tells how bad the SACC building was and shows pictures from 5 years ago (when the building was under reconstruction) and Morris says that all towns have to contribute to OSM (a computer graphic is used of the 'offending' towns) .

Interesting because McCarthy never brings up how horribly he treated Mr. Harden, Barber never shows photos of the beautiful SACC building in its current state and Morris never hints to the fact that all that Proctors/OSM high tech equipment is from the over-taxation of the homeowners and now he want to get MORE money from surrounding towns. If this OSM production represents what is to come, then we'll be seeing more false cheerleading and much less of the truth regarding Schenectady.

SACC was doing just fine UNTIL the socialists started to take it over. Once they got their hands in this media pot......it went to pot!

Don't be fooled here. This is just a media power grab by the socialists that conveniently landed in the lap of Morris. Ya see, the liberals socialists are using taxpayer money to build these empires, like proctors and the tax exempt businesses. Hence, these empires will garner votes and lucrative campaign contributions for the liberal socialists to secure their empire. Couple this with their cheerleading gazette to help keep the electorate dumbed down.........and the socialists have it just about all wrapped up.

Open your eyes people!!
