SCHENECTADY -- A veteran city police officer has been suspended with pay for allegedly driving drunk while off duty.

Joseph A. Peters IV was issued a ticket on Wednesday for driving while intoxicated and another for having a blood alcohol level above 0.08 following an investigation by the police department's Office of Professional Standards.

The 10-year veteran, who is 42 years old, was pulled over shortly before 7:30 p.m. on Guilderland Avenue after a motorist reported seeing an erractic driver.

'With pay'...don't ya love it? And caught on Guilderland Ave. I wonder if it was the Rotterdam or Schenectady end of Guilderland Ave.

Isn't Dunzie's on Guilderland? (The old Ferris's)

What other bars are up that way?

Friendly Tavern, The Elks on Curry, and another bar on Curry near 4 corners. In many private sector jobs people who have a commercial drivers license would be fired without pay but the police union has a lot of influence in this state.

I saw this heading in the "new posts" and just sort of figured that since it's Schenectady and we're watching every single penny (city or county) that this suspension was definitely going to be with pay...after all, gotta keep paying him so when he gets out he can spend money to fund the Metroplex.
