SCHENECTADY Drive-in florist? Ah, no, not really BY STEVEN COOK Gazette Reporter Reach Gazette reporter Steven Cook at 395-3122 or scook@dailygazette.net.
A Michigan Avenue florist got an unwanted drive-in visit late Tuesday. Flowers by Randolph owners and employees feverishly worked Wednesday to clean up mess left after a vehicle crashed into the store, all while remaining open through the day and into the holiday season. It was just before midnight that the driver went barreling through the closed shop, driving through the showroom before the business’s showcase cooler finally brought it to a stop. The driver fled. Her status was unclear Wednesday. What was clear was the damage to the showroom, which Mike Buffington, husband of one of the owners, called extensive. “[The vehicle] was airborne and went right through the window,” he said. “She never touched the foundation.” There was no security video, but the alarm went off, he said. Buffington hoped to have the showroom open again by Friday. An insurance examiner was working to estimate the cost of the damage. But the business never closed. A sign directs customers to the back room. They also have a Curry Road office. They temporarily don’t have a showroom on Michigan Avenue, Buffington said, “but it’s business as usual.” The shop was also ...................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....amp;EntityId=Ar01202

I bet it was texting too. Also, what is this bull that the driver "fled?" Can't they find her immediately considering she left quite a bit of "evidence" on the scene? Lock her up for leaving the scene of an accident, no more kid gloves. |

Driver who ran from florist crash faces charges SCHENECTADY — The woman accused of hitting a Michigan Avenue florist shop, ramming a vehicle into its showroom has been identified as a city teen. Kevanie Sarju, 18, of Schenectady, was issued three tickets: leaving the scene of a property damage accident, driving on the sidewalk and failure to stay in the designated lane, police spokesman officer Kevin Green said. Sarju initially fled the scene on foot, but contacted officers about four hours later. Sarju is accused of barreling through the closed Flowers by Randolph shop just before midnight Tuesday, driving through the showroom before being finally stopped by the business’s showcase cooler. The flower shop remained open for regular hours, with shop officials working to reopen the showroom as early as today.

Why is it that sometimes folks are called teens---even at 18years and young man or young woman or just plain 18year old man or 18year old woman.....
I think this is age discrimination....... |
