Any money for the historic district of Rotterdam Junction. This area seems to have a wealth of history and it really needs some updating. Maybee Farm is out there and many other buildings of interest. Anyone out there want to help work on getting this done ! |

Bring it up at a town board meeting and see what they say. Perhaps they could seek some 'historic' grants. I agree that there is more history right in the jct.
The only historic sites that are in Rotterdam is the Capital Plaza and the old Curry Road Shopping Plaza. That's about all the history we got on this side of Rotterdam. |

Well, the Curry Road Shopping Plaza is old enough now (since the date of it's closing) that, if it were a person, could go and buy some cold ones to crack open and throw a little party. Congratulations on this piece of "history," closed for more than 21 years...and not changed from opening day of Rotterdam Square (11/1/1987). Maybe this can be MADE to be history a bit faster... |

This was the response and i am glad to hear they are helping with the commercial side of things. anyone have any suggestions on how to bring attention to the historic end...maybe a call to the chamber of Commerce ?
Thank you for your message to Metroplex. We do not have any pending applications of file for Rotterdam Jct. The Town of Rotterdam IDA has been very active in assisting businesses and the Chamber of Commerce is starting up a façade program for denser, commercial areas of the county.

If properties are listed on the National or State Registers of Historic Places there are many grants that can be applied for. Are any of these properties listed on the state registers? If they are, then grants can be applied for. If they are not, then they need to apply for historic registration first. http://nysparks.state.ny.us/grants/ |
