And perhaps Mr. Guidarelli was there to 'position' himself for a future run in politics...maybe?
Rumor has it, Joe Shurada isn't running for re-election when his seat comes up. Maybe the registered Conservative and I believe executive board member,Joey G. made a deal with Parisi and Bucannan and won't run anybody for the Republicans, and assist Joey for that seat. Just a wild suggestion, it seems odd that the Gazette would pick Joey Guidarelli for a quote at the County meeting. He's interjecting himself into politics again for some reason. He lives in Rotterdam and I think Shurada's County seat is the next one coming up in Rotterdam. Correct me if I'm wrong.
You're wrong. There are 2 seats up in Rotterdam/Hilltowns (District 4) next year, Joe S and Judy D. Joe G would make a great County candidate, to replace Judy D. Her silence on the huge proposed County tax increase and refusal to put forward any ideas is sickening. Joe S. has not made up his mind about re-election. Despite Sal's stuna posts, Joe S has been a consistent voice for the taxpayers and against Metrograft waste.
You need to get up to speed on the growing Conservative/GOP rift. They are not going to work together anytime soon. Its could be a Democrat/Conservative endorsement of Joe G to replace Judy D.

Democrat, Conservative, Independence Party, Working Families, etc etc......Think he may be a wiener....
The public also spoke out against the $700B bailout. And not only did they shut down their internet email provider to shut down the voice of the people.....they passed it....WITH $1BILLION of pork added to it!!!!
The bailout has more to do with economic sanctions aqainst the US/west and the world purchasinq our debt.....we the taxpayers can buy it ourselves or sell out to the world......pretty much that is what we have been doinq with all this credit crap for the past 40years......
shame on us.....time to drink the melted down qolden calf......both parties dems and reps have been party to this.....our leaders are elected out of our masses....they dont qrow up in a vacuum.......neither party can win this.......
the local yokels up for election cant blame parties......they do however blow alot of smoke.....
...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......
The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
STOP BEING GOOD DEMOCRATS---STOP BEING GOOD REPUBLICANS--START BEING GOOD AMERICANS
Democrat, Conservative, Independence Party, Working Families, etc etc......Think he may be a wiener....
Is that a typo? Do you mean wiener as in hotdog or winner as in winner?? I have a tough time following Rotterdam politics and wanted to see if you were making a deragatory statement or a statement of approval
THERE is no question in anyones mind that Joey Guiderelli can and will beat the candyman hands down and probably 2 to 1 especially since Joe S doesnt deserve any lines and may not even get the repubs line next year for going against everyone including the taxpayers so if Joe S runs then he will have to be some kind of indepen and Joey G can get all the lines over here to beat him along with Judy D. I found that Angelo doesnt run again for 4 more years so whoever runs will need Angelos endoresement and there is no way Ang would endorse Joe S since it would infuriate the people plus all the leaders who want to get things done around here. My money will be on Ang endorseing Joey G since the conservs will all be behind that effort plus Joey G is the true conserv like Ang. Also Ang will not endorese Tommasone or Mertz and since he wont endorse GOD he will leave that race un - touched. My sources at morning coffee tell me that GOD will run against Steve T and will have ALL of the lines that Joey G has including Demo, conserv, indepen, Working Fam, and Right to Life and it is up in the air weather or not Steve T even gets the repub since Johnny boy Mertz wants it as well over here. So look for a big war and lots of troubles for the repubs and they may all be voted out since Obama and th demos will win in a landslide all over and they will be fixing the economy and cutting the taxes over here . I am voting all demo except I may still wind up putting the closepin on the nose and going for Stevie T since no way am I voting for GOD since GOD thinks he knows all
Is Joe Guiderelli related to Peter Guiderelli who is reportedly close with Salvatore's "boys in blue"? If so, it would make sense that the Conservs endorse Joe G.
Heard that Amedore is related to Guiderellis by marriage. Any truth to this? Trying to untangle the web of political players.
Seems like all the players (Amedores, Guiderellis, Viscusis, Hamiltons, Dagostinos, etc.) in Rotterdam on both sides of the political divide are related by blood or marriage. If so, is there really a "divide" or is it staged?
Sometimes the more that you hear, the less that you want to listen.
OMG! Since both their last names are Guidarelli, I'm gonna go way out on a limb here, they are brothers! A couple of Joe's in 2009! Re-elect Joe S and elect Joey G!
Maybe we can get back on topic and recommend to the clueless Democratic majority some cuts before we run the 2009 races? Sal is all wet{as usual} continuing to blame the only fiscal Conservative, Joe S., for all the fiscal ills of the County that his buddies continue to ignore.
Quoted from LibertyNJustice: ... Heard that Amedore is related to Guiderellis by marriage. Any truth to this? ...
I also understand that the Amedore and Guiderelli families are related by marriage. I think that one of George's sisters is married to a Guiderelli. I can't speak to the rest of the questions that you asked.
Benny is correct that we need to bring attention to the failure of our County Legislators to identify any meaningful and substantial cuts in spending.
I'm not sure that the agreement w/ the CSEA union employees wherein the county is agreeing to enhanced health benefits in exchange for a few years without salary increases will ultimately result in a net savings for the county taxpayers. When one considers that health insurance and medical treatment are increasing in cost at greater than the rate of inflation and that historically the raises are (slightly) greater than the rate of inflation, I suspect that our elected representatives are postponing the financial impact only to be addressed by a subsequent legislative body. Further, insuring the county employees' spouses, in the case of the employees demise, until such time that the spouse is no longer eligible for Medicare seems costly.
In my assessment, there may be no net gain to be realized by this agreement. Though there may be some savings in employee compensation this year and next, the cost of the health care plans and benefits in the future may increase substantially. This sounds like a financial expenditure "shell game"
Thus far, I have read of no reductions in the size or cost of county government. Further, the majority Democratic party seem unwilling to consider suggestions that don't originate within their own party. There is no room for partisan political posturing. Our elected officials must implement an austerity budget. Cut Here. ... Cut Now!
I also understand that the Amedore and Guiderelli families are related by marriage. I think that one of George's sisters is married to a Guiderelli.
Actually, I think that it is a sister of the Guiderellis who is married to an Amedore. Either way, I'm quite certain that there is a relation by marriage.
I've been informed that I have things "bass-ackwards" in my interpretation of the Daily Gazette article that I referenced in post 68. The article was entitled "Raises Swapped for Insurance Changes". I (now) understand that the CSEA employees will be given a salary INCREASE in the collective amount of $1.4M in 2010 in exchange for changes to their health insurance plan. The plan will be changed to the federal government Medicare Advantage Plan for those past, current, and future employees who are eligible for Medicare. Should the federal government discontinue this plan, the benefits will revert to the previously contracted insurance. If this scenario was to occur, the CSEA members would have both their salary increase and the health plan that is being replaced to achieve cost reductions.
Joe G would make a great County candidate, to replace Judy D.
Although Judy Dagastino SHOULD be replaced, I am hoping that you were just joshing when you said that Joey Guidarelli would make a great county candidate. Just take a walk down Rotterdam's memory lane, when Joey 'abstain' Guidarelli was appointed to the town board. Oh he's conservative alright. So conservative that he abstained on every single vote that came up for vote! And why? Because it was always a conflict of interest with his business. Rotterdam will be in deep doo-doo if he gets elected. Do some research Benny!
And I still believe that the health care part of the contract was irresponsible at best!

Rotterdam—During one of the biggest budget crunches, at the eleventh hour, the county Democratic Majority under Sue Savage has decided, rather than work at finding meaningful cuts and real- world solutions, to engage in political “gotcha” and ridiculous stunts. In the Rules Committee agenda (delivered to me electronically on Sunday 10-10-08 at 4:47pm) there are two pieces of legislation sponsored by Legislator Hughes that are probably the worst nonsense ever devised to deflect political criticism and avoid dealing with our responsibilities. See below:
R93 A RESOLUTION URGING THE GOVERNOR AND THE STATE LEGISLATURE TO ENACT LEGISLATION REQUIRING THE STATE TO ASSUME THE FULL COST FOR THE NON-FEDERAL SHARE OF THE MEDICAID PROGRAM WHICH WOULD PERMIT SCHENECTADY TO CUT ITS REAL PROPERTY TAX RATE BY APPROXIMATELY 50%
R94 A RESOLUTION URGING THE GOVERNOR AND THE STATE LEGISLATURE TO ENABLE COUNTIES TO CUT PROPERTY TAXES BY ENACTING LEGISLATION INCREASING THE INCOME TAXES PAID BY THOSE EARNING OVER $1,000,000 RATHER THAN PASSING THE COST OF STATE PROGRAMS ON TO SENIORS AND WORKING FAMILIES THROUGH PROPERTY TAXES
It would be nice if Legislator Hughes took time to come up with ideas to cut spending rather than dream up unrealistic scenarios that will never happen in a million years. Although it would be nice if the State would assume the cost of Medicaid, we would have better odds for success if we gambled the county budget at the blackjack tables in Vegas. As far as the second resolution, personal income taxes comprise 62.5% of all state tax revenues and the 10 percent of taxpayers with the lowest incomes had 1.0 percent of all income and paid 0.3 percent of all tax. The 10 percent of taxpayers with the highest incomes had 51.3 percent of all income and paid 64.2 percent of all tax. These figures are from 2004 (NYS Tax and Finance Analysis of 2005 Personal Tax Returns from the Office of Tax Policy Analysis) which are the last published in August 2008. When 10 percent of the highest earners pay 64 percent of all the income taxes, I would say that is a “progressive” taxation system.
But really, we need to look at it another way- when was the last time you heard anyone say “The problem with New York State is that there are too many rich people and their damn money! We need to drive them out of here!” ??????? Driving out wealthy people and their money might make a lot of people feel better that we punished someone doing well, but it will lead to ultimate economic ruin as the wealth flees our state and area and goes to low tax havens like Florida, Georgia, Arizona and South Carolina. Correct me if I am wrong, but aren’t we always seeking ways to keep our young, ambitious, educated leaders of tomorrow HERE in New York state where they might have an opportunity to advance, rather than be punished for succeeding? We have politicians, and think tanks and leaders (including former first lady Silda Spitzer as I recall) holding symposiums on this issue, yet here we are in Schenectady coming up with hare-brained class warfare schemes designed to make us a community of the retired and the poor.
Shame on you for not coming up with ways to cut spending. Daydreaming of ways to get your Republican colleagues to step into a trap by voting against this junk won’t do a lick of good for our taxpayers. Raising ANYONE’S taxes is not the answer, no matter how popular the concept is with the working class. It will only destroy prosperity further and deepen our economic woes, thereby punishing those whose votes you are getting with this claptrap.
In summary we need to cut spending and be responsible. I votes against all budgets except for one during my tenure because they spent outrageously and never imagined tough economic times. My suggestions for cuts, whether it be the new Zamboni, no library expansion, Kosiur’s patronage job, salary freezes, or actually delivering long term care to the elderly based on a model that is not 70 years old have been soundly ignored for years. As far as dismissing cuts as not being large enough, does anyone remember the national outrage over the Defense Department’s “$10,000 hammer?” I guess in Schenectady County it would “only be” a $10,000 hammer and not be worthy of discussion during budget talks. Watch your dimes and your dollars will take care of themselves, my Father once told me. In this county we don’t even watch our dollars under this spendthrift regime.
Chickens always come home to roost and so do fiscal vultures looking to feast on dead counties. It is time we turned into deficit hawks, woke up, and stop playing games and just do our jobs for a change. The future of our county is in our hands.

They CANT be serious, can they? Is this the kind of crap legislation we pay them to come up with?
