IMHO, based on past performance, they'll probably just give up the seat. |

Yeah, I spoke with Mr. Mertz also and he said that the ONLY person that he didn't have the support of at the meeting was the head of the party, so I guess it depends on who you talk to. You ask the head of the party, he says that Mertz doesn't have approval from the entire party, you ask anyone else, including Mertz, and that couldn't be farther from the truth.
Guess Mertz was wrong about Parisi being the only one not supporting him..... |

well some people I know who are in the know told me he was the one that caused the problems over there by voting against things so that in the end the delay costs the taxpayers plus when he insults the leaders by being against them and rocking the boat to much this looses us state and federaL AID FOR Clinton and Schummer. Then he says things like he looked at the pretty women instead of texting and that it was dangerous which is a stupid comment for any leader to make since leaders dont need to talk dirty or discriminate against women, OK? |

I’m more than dismayed by the apparent impending departure of Mr. Mertz from the Rotterdam Town Board. For the record, it was Mr. Mertz that championed relief for the beleaguered Masullo Estates neighborhood after learning of the matter in his inaugural campaign for office. He took the time to listen to endless complaints as he went door-to-door seeking support. More importantly, he pledged to try to do something about it. After he was elected, he remembered his promise and took up addressing the matter right away. Despite the obstacles encountered over almost 5 years and criticism from frustrated residents, he never gave up advancing efforts to provide relief. Through his efforts, the necessary land acquisition for drainage was recently completed.
It would have been easier to walk away. He didn’t. For that, I am personally grateful.
He has consistently been the lightning rod on the town issues that scared others into silence. I believe Mr. Mertz gets votes because he is likeable and connects with the voters. He understands the concerns of residents and is willing to be an outspoken advocate on their behalf. With or without the local GOP backing, I believe he is easily electable if he chooses to continue independently.

Mertz was singled out because at times on certain issues he disagreed with the others on the town board. To his credit in my opinion he always had the residents best interest at heart. I agree with Michael that Mertz kept fighting for the residents of Masullo Estates trying to figure out a way to relieve the water problems even when other board members wanted to cut Masullo Estates loose to sink or swim on their own. I also think that Mertz could win as an independent if he so chooses to run. |

Wow. Think about this ... if Suhrada loses (albeit a small possibility) - and Mertz wins, we've lost Suhrada from the county AND the town for several years, maybe longer. |

There's an opening from the Silva departure also so there's room for Mertz as an independent and Suhrada as a Repub. |

he spent all that money to raise the tax at the county over there pl;us he was against putting the molesters in jail from what I read that last time he ran
Typical disinformation. Don't think you read very well. Joe was one of the few to vote against the Krat huge property tax increase in a recession. Then we have to hear all this nonsense about renaissance and rebirth. If it's such a rebirth why the need to raise County Taxes to record levels? Joe voted for Lumpy Kosiur's pedophile relocation. Unlike anyone else he admitted he made a mistake. The answer was never dumping the City's problem on Rotterdam and the Hilltown's. Maybe Mertz will consider a County run, if his popularity here is any indication? Agree with MT-This looks very weak. The last thing we need is yet another Savage stooge, like Judy,Tony J., or Karen J. |

I wonder who is gonna take Joe Suhrada's place at the county level???? Is that what Mike Viscusi is positioning himself for or do they have others in mind?
Would this be the guy championing the 'senior-law apartment' tax relief????? |

Guess so...unless it's John deciding the same way that Joe did, that he didn't want to deal with the hassle of it anymore. I only report what I heard, now what the facts are. |

I wasn't aware he was responsible for the tax increase in the county and making us one of the most taxed counties in the country nor was I aware that he had a fondness for child molesters. I am going to see him on Thursday and I will be sure to ask him about this.

what are the answers? |
| "While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat." |
