I drove by the Rotterdam waste treatment center tonight (about 9:40) - I couldn't believe the smell coming out of that place, it was horrific. It just permeated everything. I don't know HOW the people in the apartments are dealing with it, it was REALLY bad tonight.
Is it like this all summer? |

No. It doesn't STINK like that all of the time. Just MOST of the time! And it is even more horrific when it is hot and humid out! I don't know how those people in the apartments stand it? A friend of mine was looking for an apartment in Rotterdam. He said that he would consider any of them EXCEPT the ones by the treatment plant! |

I just can't believe anyone would CHOOSE to live there - can't open your windows, can't sit outside ... I've never smelled anything so bad as I did tonight. |

That's what happens when too much sewage is trying to be processed by a sewage plant that's operating at max capacity. The truth of the matter is Rotterdam needs a new efficient sewage treatment plant but they can't afford it. |

How long did it go on nd what did they do to resolve it?
well it was run by the city then they contracted out to a private company ; i am not sure what improvements were made ....i am pretty sure it is still ran by a private contractor |
