Uh, can you tell us how much the struggling Schenectady families with incomes of $30,000, and the elderly living on meager social security who have not gotten a raise in two years have to pay in property taxes for that building?????
By the way, can you tell us how the people on social security who have not gotten a raise in two years are supposed to pay for the tax increase.....on top of food prices going up, on top of heat going up, on top of gas going up????
And you think the wealthy business should be exempt????
The last time I checked .. Social Security was a Federal issue .. so it is hardly the fault of the city or the county. I have NEVER said that wealthy business should be exempt from taxes -- IF you took the time to actually read my posts .. I have said that PILOTS/property tax exemptions should ONLY be used as a last resort to attract business and not handed out like lollipops (which is something that both Dems & GOP controlled IDAs have been guilty of).

THe thing is DVOR refuses to answer my questions because he knows that he is wrong.
He cannot in any way, manner, shape, or form make a statement that the proper make a statement that the city taxpayers are not covering the taxes for the wealthy businesses.
But I really think he refuses to answer because it would really be an embarrassment, especially for a Catholic person, for him to make a statement that the elderly on fixed incomes should be paying the property taxes for the rich, as well as the average family with the typical $30,000 household income to be subsidizing these millionaires. It would be one thing if the business owner was a small mom and pop and net profit was a paltry $50,000, but these are either national chains, or super wealthy mom and pop businesses.
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
And of course, he carefully avoids responding to the question of what has improved in Schenectady---the real Schenectady where people live. He avoids that question because he just can't come up with an answer. He can't say that the little that has taken place in downtown has made Schenectady a better place to live. He can't refute that crime has gone up, he can't refute that people are moving out in droves, he can't refute that the vacancy rate is skyrocketing, he can't refute that services have been cut big time, he just cannot refute that the spending of money downtown has caused the real part of the city to go down the tubes.
And of course, he would be careful of what he says because his party people might dump him and stop doing favors for him

He actually thinks the issue of elderly struggling on fixed incomes having to pay the property taxes of the millionaires downtown is funny?
Intelligent people think it's a very serious issue. And totally unfair.

You always hit the issues right on the head MC1. You are dead on!!!! Anyone with half a brain can see how bad schenectady has become. We have been downtown a couple of times. Each time, we were approached by panhandlers, saw a guy pissing on the sidewalk and another vagrant puking at a bus stop. ALL IN THE RENEWED AREA OF STATE STREET!
We will not go down there again! And we certainly will not go after the shooting and fights at/by Boomers. We also do not ride through the mt. pleasant area at night. And during the day, our car doors are locked.
And just watch and don't be surprised........the plex will ask for an additional $25M!!

you don't have to belong to a specific party to be a Regressive and/or a Nattering Nayboob of Negativity.
really?.....I was just responding to ANYONE(including yourself) that thinks by using/blowing/touting party names removes the negligence and responsibility from the backs of those responsible......

Oh gosh, is there anyone I can pay to change the sign on Bombers? Maybe I'll try manipulating a photo. Send it to Savage, ya know, she really lives up to her name

I keep my car doors locked when I drive through a neighborhood of Regressives.

Perhaps it will take a few bullets from those 'innocent shooting'!
Schenectady has to be careful that bombers doesn't have anymore fights/shootings. They could have their liquor license taken away.

There's a New World Coming And it's just around the bend There's a new world coming This one's coming to an end
There's a new voice calling You can hear it if you try And it's growing stronger With each day that passes by
There's a brand new morning Rising clear and sweet and free There's a new day dawning That belongs to you and me
Yes a new world's coming The one we've had visions of Coming in peace, coming in joy, coming in love.
