Makes sense.. i just have a hard time swallowing "the levy was reduced" as the actual total of taxes goes up. Might be a more personal issue then a someone did something wrong. I want to point the finger.. i just don't know where to point it. |

i can honestly say though, i really don't know who's responsible for what when it comes to the tax situation in Rotterdam... I'll chalk this one up to needing to collect more information.. Can we push Nov 3rd back a bit while i learn? lol |

The Poalino administration signed a contract with GAR to do the reval and the current administration was in power when the reval took place. It was my understanding that the contract that the town signed couldn't be broke without costing the town some money thru a lawsuits and the rest is history. |

I don't think that anyone was apposed to having the reval done as it was 50 years since a reval was done. The town was losing revenue from the state and many people were paying an unfair lower tax and the newer homes were paying and unfair higher tax. What the town got was an unfair reval and the current assessor isn't doing the taxpayer any favors either when he chose to selectively reassess some rural properties part residential and largely commercial. It would appear that the assessor is trying to milk every dime he can out of the taxpayer. |

I hate to bring up a sore subject - but that was at the recommendation of John Macejka - solely and entirely. |

Sadly misinformed MT--Patrick Aragosa, the Town Comptroller chaired a committee of local residents, commercial entities and elected officials put together to discuss the pros and cons of a townwide reval. John Macejka was not on the committee. Mr Aragosa forwarded HIS committee recommendation to do the reval onto the Paolino administration. Their was also a group of Schalmont students who had a semester government project that recommended a reval. Robert Beebe counsel for the town, also made a recommendation to the administration that a reval should be done. The job of the assessor is to oversee the project, manage the project and sign the ensuing assessment roll once the project is state certified. As I have stated before, STEVE and CREW BLEW IT when they hired Craig Surprise to manage the fallout. Hence FDG Live by the Sword Die by the Sword. Too bad Steve, Mertz and Signore used it to cut off their noses to spite their face! |

And it's Craig Surprise who should be packing as we speak. Once again MT, Puddy has the scoop. The boys in the band will be singing a new tune. Surprise is a huge part of the problem for ST but once again he was too aloof to pay attention to it. For a guy with a humble background, he sees his rise in politics as "meteoric" rather than mediocre. ST has no record to run on and is saddled with the stumbling block of the "surprise" package. Puddy knows help is on the way in the form of FDG. |

OF COURSE! However, there is enough blame to go around here folks. From the Paolino administration, to our 'last' assessor, GAR and surprise. I guess it depends on which side of the political fence one is on. For me...personally.....I would like to know exactly how this tax issue will be handled and with and by whom? All of this talk from a couple of posters here and there is yet to be a mention of who our next assessor will be after the dems kick surprise out. And cal....gotta ask this question.....can't help myself....but did you ever meet mr. surprise? Or is this just all hear say from other people that came down 2nd and 3rd hand? See folks, that is why we are fortunate enough to finally have another choice other than the dems and reps this election year. We have the NNTP!! What ya see is what ya get...on strings attached! VOTE ROW F! |

Hey...h.v. is in your camp now honey. Endorsed by your camp. What do you think, they endorsed her just cause she's a hottie? Your camp must have endorsed her partly on her past performance. I'm sure paolino gave his seal of approval for her. |
