I would hope that they had to meet a fire code with state of the art sprinkler systems in place. I believe that is code when using hot grease. And I hope that they have 'smell proof' ceilings cause I wouldn't want that smell permeating my 2nd floor apt. |

I just hope nobody "fast-tracked" the application to get it setup. I can't believe that building (an OLD wood structure) would be allowed to run grease friers pits downstairs. Sorry, it just gives the appearance of an accident waiting to happen.
Frankly, I'm glad they're missing the "Easter/Lenten" rush - it'll give them time to make sure everything is up and running perfectly for next year (if they don't move again before then). A tragedy around Easter wouldn't have been a good thing, for anyone, or the town. |

I hope as well, but I can't say that the thought didn't cross my mind. |

I don't think it was rushed because I think it was November's planning commision meeting that I seen the waiver of site plan for operation. 3 months to set up a small restaurant seems like plenty of time. From what I heard the boths Ankers are the same. I guess the 2 guys were partners and they split when the 5 corners store opened. So I would assume they both must own the Ankers name. |

I went by today thinking I would buy fish for dinner but they were closed. I didn't actually drive up to the door so I didn't get to see their hours. There was someone else at the door checking if they were open too. So I'll check tomorrow. |

If I recall I think they are open wed-sat 1130 to 7 or 8. I forgot to take a menu. |

I stopped there tonight and did pick up a menu. Their selections and prices seem great! And it did smell wonderful when I walked in. I did talk to someone who tried the 1lb haddock and they said it was very very good. I'm planning to try it soon. |

The food is deeped fried, high cholostorol junk food. A heart attack waiting to happen. Better off staying away from that kind of dining fare. Plus the ownership is an unstable enity as evidenced by the failure of Sorrento's and the 5-Corners locale to say the least. JMHO
Place looks like a dump and really doesn't belong there. |

Well I must say I enjoy the food anyways. Everything you eat is not good for you in someway. This is the best location they been at. Its a perfect spot (high traffic flow, easy access, very visable) and its alot nicer inside then the past stores and that dumpy one on Altomont Ave. I do agree the outside does need some work and hopefully they do something when the spring comes. |

I take exception to running down an established institution like the Anker's on Altamont Avenue. The Griesemer Family have been wandering around the Town of Rotterdam for the last 10 years looking to duplicate a true hometown jewel in the original Anker's on Altamont Ave. They failed at Sorrento's, failed on 5-Corners and will move on once lent is over. HaHa! Find your own niche and name!!! I know I wouldn't buy anything from a slippery snake oil salesman! |

Well, whoever they are, the food, service and prices are great!! I haven't heard one negative thing about the place yet. And sure the building is shabby, but who owns it? The outside lighting is poor! The property owner should be held responsible for the condition of the building. It is a great location.
I don't know how true it is, but someone told me the building was owned by someone in law enforcement. I kind of find that hard to believe, since anyone in law enforcement would surely not have a building stay in such bad shape. Especially with no outside lighting for safety. |

Yes I heard the same thing. Iam not sure if its a Rotterdam or Schenectady cop or Sheriff who owns that building and the house next door. Reguardless hopefully someone does a little rehab on the exterior of the property. |
