HEALTHY LIVING SHOW ROTTERDAM — The 4th grade chorus at Jefferson Elementary School will perform a show called, “F.I.T.” at 7 p.m. today in the Schalmont High school auditorium. The play focuses on the importance of healthy eating habits and exercising. After the event, students will be signing a pledge promising to continue living a healthy life filled with exercise, for the remainder of the school year.
CAMPUS CLEANUP ROTTERDAM — The Schalmont Sabre Service Club and the Environmental Club will hold a spring campus cleanup from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. today on the Schalmont Middle School/High School campus in honor of National Arbor Day which falls on Friday, April 29. In addition to cleaning up the campus, the clubs will be planting a number of sugar maple tree saplings, donated to the Town of Rotterdam from Wells Fargo.
COMMUNITY BREAKFAST ROTTERDAM — The VFW Post 1895, 609 Draper Ave., will host a Community Breakfast from 9 a.m. to noon on Sunday . The cost is $7 for adults and $6.50 for seniors.
TOASTMASTERS MEET ROTTERDAM — Mohawk Toastmasters will meet at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, at the Rotterdam Senior Citizen’s Center on East Campbell and Hamburg Street. The meeting is open to anyone who is interested in improving their leadership and communication skills. STUDENT ART SHOW ROTTERDAM — Rotterdam Square Mall is hosting an art show of work by Schenectady school district students. The show, which runs through Tuesday, includes work from pre-K students to seniors at Schenectady High School. Mediums include ceramics, papier mache, chalk, paint and collage. The show is in the Sears wing of the mall, at 93 W. Campbell Road.

ROTTERDAM — Registration for the summer basketball camp and summer swim team at the Rotterdam Boys & Girls Club will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, at 721 Curry Road. The basketball camp will be on Wednesday evenings for ages 4-12. Players ages 4 to 7 will practice from 6 to 7 p.m. and those 8 to 12 will practice from 7 to 8 p.m. The fee is $50 per person. PARADE DAY EVENT ROTTERDAM — The Rotterdam United Methodist Church at 1915 Helderberg Ave. will hold its first Rotterdam Memorial Day parade event on its front lawn from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 26. There will be a variety of baked goods and plants for sale.
CAR SHOW, CRAFT FAIR ROTTERDAM — The Schonowe Volunteer Fire Company, 112 Gordon Road, will host a chicken barbecue, car show and craft fair on Saturday, June 4. The barbecue will be held from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. or until sold out. The cost is $8.50 for a half chicken, potato, baked beans, roll, beverage and dessert. The car show and craft fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with free admission. The rain date for the car show is Sunday, June 5. HONORING ‘THE KING’ ROTTERDAM — The Hamburg Street Merchants Association will sponsor Elvis Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Hamburg Street Farmers Market, 2639 Hamburg St. Special events will include: An Elvis concert starring Donny Elvis from 11 a.m. to noon. TINSMITHING PROGRAM ROTTERDAM — The Mabee Farm Historic Site, 1080 Main St. (Route 5S), will host a program on the history, tools, and techniques of the tinsmith from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 18. Instructor Olof Jansson will teach basic processes, including cutting, bending, forming, wiring, and soldering, through the construction of simple, historically accurate examples of early tinware. Participants will be able to make and take home a sconce, candlestick or cup. The cost is $100, plus a material fee of $10. There will be a halfhour lunch break, with participants asked to bring their own lunch.
BENEFIT LAWN SALE ROTTERDAM — A lawn sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at 262 Princetown Road. All proceeds will go to benefi t the Lighthouse Evangelical Free Church Building Fund.
