FOUL SHOT CONTEST ROTTERDAM — The Rotterdam Elks Lodge 2157 will host a free throw basketball hoop shoot from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Mohonasen Draper Middle School, 2070 Curry Road. Sign-ups will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Bring a copy of the child’s birth certificate as proof of age is required. This competition is open to both girls and boys and will be broken down into age groups: 8-9, 10-11 and 12-13. Trophies will be given to the first three place winners in each group. The contest consists of each participant shooting 25 foul shots. The winners of the local contest will then move on to the next level of competition, competing all the way up to nationals. TOASTMASTERS MEETING ROTTERDAM — Mohawk Toastmasters will hold their next meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, at the Rotterdam Senior Citizen Center on Hamburg Street. Toastmasters is devoted to improving leadership roles, enhancing communication and evaluation techniques, all of which are transferable skills in today’s workplace. It also offers networking and learning opportunities. Rotterdam Toastmasters is a 20-year chapter of Toastmasters International with members in workplaces throughout the Capital Region. SKI-A-THON ROTTERDAM — The American Heart Association will hold its eighth annual 24-hour ski-a-thon beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday , and concluding at 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, at Maple Ski Ridge, 2725 Mariaville Road. Family activities planned from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday will include Price Chopper Kids Cooking Club, The Smile Monster, music, lunch and a $35 four-hour lift ticket, which will include a $20 donation to the American Heart Association. Registration is $60 per team of four, and minimum fundraising of $200 per team is required.
Schalmont to host county music fest ROTTERDAM — Schalmont High School will host the Schenectady County Music Festival this weekend Friday and Saturday. Students from Scotia-Glenville, Schalmont, Mohonasen and Schenectady school districts will participate in the festival. The concert will be held in the Schalmont High School auditorium at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Admission to the concert is: $3.50 for adults, $2 for seniors and $10 per family.

Relay For Life is more than just a fundraiser. It’s a life-changing experience. At Relay, every person in the community has a chance to celebrate, remember, and fight back. And every person who participates joins others around the globe as part of this worldwide movement to end cancer. Join us at Mohonasen High School on May 14, 2011. BREAKFAST AT THE POST ROTTERDAM — Hilderbrand-Davis VFW Post 1895, 609 Draper Ave., will hold a public breakfast from 9 a.m. to noon on Sunday, March 6. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children 10 and under.
AQUATICS PROGRAMS ROTTERDAM — The Rotterdam Boys & Girls Club will be taking registrations from 6 to 8 p.m. today for its upcoming Spring Session of Aquatics Programs. DINNER CANCELED ROTTERDAM — The Schonowe Volunteer Fire Co. (Rotterdam Fire District 7) will not be serving their annual corned beef, cabbage and ham dinner this year. The fire company’s kitchen is in need of repairs and upgrading. The dinner is usually held on the Saturday prior to St. Patrick’s Day.
