MABEE FARM OPENING ROTTERDAM JUNCTION — The Mabee Farm Historic Site, 1080 Main St., opens for the season on Tuesday with operating hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and by appointment. The riverside complex features the oldest house in the Mohawk Valley, a 1705 Dutch-style stone house originally established as a homestead in the 1600s. There are also slave quarters, an inn, a 1760 dutch barn, a cemetery and other outbuildings. On Saturday, May 8, an exhibition of Industrial Revolution gadgets titled “Whatits” will open. DUTCH OVEN CLASS ROTTERDAM JUNCTION — The Mabee Farm Historic Site, Route 5S, will hold a Dutch Oven Cooking class from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday with lunch at noon. Designed for students with little or no Dutch oven cooking experience, this class introduces the basic skills required to cook with Dutch ovens by preparing entrees, breads, vegetables, and dessert.
