Redbox to open HQ

SCHENECTADY — A company that rents popular movies through vending machines will open a regional headquarters in the Schenectady County Community Business Center, officials said.
Redbox Automated Retail will open a three-person office Feb. 1 in the Albany Street building to serve upstate New York and Vermont, said Ray Gillen, chairman of the Metroplex Development Authority. Metroplex helps oversee operations at the county-owned building.
“It’s another good tenant for the center,” Gillen said.
Arnold Howard, Redbox’s regional operations supervisor, said in a news release the company chose Schenectady “for its proximity to our customer base,” and because “we like the idea of being located around other entrepreneurs in the business center.”
Redbox becomes the center’s 13th tenant, bringing the facility to near full occupancy. Gillen said approximately 500 square feet of office space remains available in the 25,000-square-foot building.
Redbox is a leading renter of DVDs using automated kiosks, Gillen said.
Locally, it has kiosks in Price Chopper, Hannaford, Wal-Mart and Cumberland Farm stores. The company is headquartered in Oak Brook Terrace, IL.
“Everyone is getting rid of their video rental departments,” Gillen said. In some cases, they use Redbox, noted for its red kiosks, as a replacement.
Redbox is owned by Coinstar, McDonald Ventures and private investors.

only because everyone uses the street copies....

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
