Michael, the individual is connected pretty good and protected even better even when he's wrong. State law states that no open burning in towns with a population over 20,000 people but it didn't stop him from burning every weekend and holiday with the town blessing.
Geezzzzeee...and I thought that all that BS was a thing of the past. I guess it doesn't matter what political party is in power. Favors are still handed out. I'll tell ya folks one thing...if it was happening in my neighborhood, all of this information would be reported to Greg Floyd (channel 6) and all media outlets!!! Names and addresses accompanied by pictures!!

Come on Michael....you speak of starting a new party...maybe your name will be a choice in a voting booth one day....how can you sit back and let these things happen without exposing it?

Let’s clear up a few things.  The open fires have stopped…at least any that can be discerned so that is currently no longer a concern.

Much of the activity is probably allowed.  I don’t have an issue with EVERYTHING necessarily.

What I do have an issue with is lack of oversight on what is occurring.  This land has previously been subject to a 1969 DOH decree and more recently, a standing Positive Declaration.  The Planning Commission agreed with me that the subdivision of this land to accommodate a land transfer was potentially a matter of segmentation.  These are issues (violations?) of NYS Environmental Law.  What’s more, the very concerns the Planning Commission had of multiple access points and fill being brought in have occurred anyway by default.

As far as your point bumblethru, you haven’t been paying attention close enough if you believe I haven’t been trying to fight this matter.  Everything you say I should be doing has been done.  I don’t control what gets press coverage and quite frankly, it isn’t my desire to get press coverage.  I want the Town to assume their responsibilities.  Press coverage doesn’t make that happen as evidenced by the water tower, Marotta dump, drainage, police station, et al that have gone unaddressed despite coverage.

Point taken. I just find it so hard to  fathom, that there is nothing or no one to go to when something is being done that shouldn't be. It just makes us all victims to the powers that be.

Quoted from Michael

Specifically, my rant tonight was more about accountability.  The access point that the Planning Commission was concerned about and said couldn't be a road without their say so, has turned into a road nevertheless.  Unauthorized and improper.  Trucks routinely and regularly enter and exit through the deforested section directly opposite my home.  The Town Board assured me that could never occur because there is no curb cut.  I'll bear that in mind next time I witness the trucks coming and going.  It's a joke!

Almost another year has passed since that quote above and I thought I'd take the opportunity to beat a dead horse.  Yes, the land clearing continues.  Check when I started this thread and tell me how many trees you think could be cut down in that time.  Or you could check an aerial photo.

But my real underlying beef right now remains access.  Vehicles have been entering and exiting nearly every day since the snow started melting. That is, except when they're parked out there and left overnight.  Can you say "illegal curb cut?"  There are now two replanted pines on either side of the "road" making for quite a regal entranceway.

This is one example of the lack of ACCOUNTABILITY that affects me personally every single day.  I could name others that exist that don't.  All of them are equally important.  We need someone to make ACCOUNTABILITY a priority...in practice, not lip service.  I have someone in mind that will.

As we both know Michael, accountability may hurt the developers and other special people in this town with what they may want to do and it may cost the Town Board votes if they try to do things the right way therefore when in doubt do nothing. How's the Netherlands storm water problem, you know the one that dumps all it's water into Masullo Estates, has that been repaired yet?

Who owns this land? Does it have a parcel # or address? Could it be someone connected to our town board and that is why this isn't being addressed as it should? Remember transparency???

The land is owned by someone who is in a position to help the town out when the need arises when things wear out on their equipment, nothing has changed in the last 50 years in the way this town operates IMHO. Only the names have been changed to protect the quilty.

I bring this matter up again not to re-hash it but to illustrate a point.  There have been numerous instances in town where code violations are rampant and well-documented.  Yet, despite repeated complaints, and repeated assurances by the town board to take action, the status quo prevails.

It doesn't make sense to me.  For all the lip service paid to "fairness", I'd like someone to identify it for me.  The bottom line is we've got to do better on the simple straightforward things.  It shouldn't be as difficult as it has been to preserve and protect our Quality of Life.  There is no excuse for the perpetuation of these nuisances.

I've heard assurances of accountability for two terms on various matters of concern.  I'm tired of waiting for something that isn't going to be delivered.  It's time someone else was granted the opportunity to deliver it.

Were you expecting anything different? It's just the same old, same old in Rotterdam.
