The following is my transcript of English sub-titles taken from an original Arab language broadcast on Al Jazeera Qatar TV Feb.21, 2006 that someone posted on the Web for the world to see. It is the translation of a partial TV interview with Arab-American Psychologist Wafa Sultan.
Transcript: Wafa: The clash we are witnessing around the world is not a clash of religions or of civilizations. It’s a clash between two opposites two, eras. It’s a clash between a mentality that belongs in the Middle Ages and another mentality that belongs in the 21st Century. It’s a clash between civilization and backwardness, between the civilized and the primitive, between barbarity and rationality. It’s a clash between freedom and oppression, between democracy and dictatorship. It’s a clash between human rights, on the one hand, and the violation of these rights on the other. It’s a clash between those who treat women like beasts and those who treat them as human beings.
What we seem today is not a clash of civilizations. Civilizations do not clash but compete.
Moderator: I understand from your words that what is happening today is the clash between the culture of the West and the backwardness and ignorance of the Muslims?
Wafa: Yes, that is what I mean.
Moderator: Who came up with the clash of nations. Was it not Samuel Huntington? It was not Bin Laden. I would like to discuss this issue if you don’t mind.
Wafa: The Muslims were the ones who began using this expression The Muslims were the ones who began this clash of civilizations. The Prophet of Islam said “ I was ordered to fight the people until they believe in Allah and his Messenger” When the Muslims divided the people into Muslims and non-Muslims and called to fight the others until they believe what they themselves believe, they started this clash and began this war.
In order to stop this war, they must re-examine their Islamic books and curricula, which are full of calls for takfir and fighting the infidels.
My colleague has said that he never offends other people’s beliefs. What civilization on the face of this earth allows him to call other people names they did not choose for themselves? Once he calls them Ahl Al-Dhimma, another time he calls them “People of the Book.” and yet another time he compares them to apes and pigs, or he calls the Christians “those who incur Allah’s wrath”. Who told you they are People of the Book?
They are not the People of the Book, they are the people of many books. All the useful scientific books you have today are theirs and the fruit of their free and creative thinking. What gives you the right to call them “those who incur Allah’s wrath”? or” those who have gone astray?” and then come here and say that your religion commands you to refrain from offending the belief of others? I am not a Christian, a Muslim, or a Jew. I am a secular human being. I do not believe in the supernatural but I respect others right to believe in it.
Imam: Are you a heretic? Wafa: You can say whatever you like. I am a secular human being who does no0t believe in the supernatural.
Imam: If you are a heretic there is no point in rebuking you since you have blasphemed against Islam, the Prophet, and the Koran.
Wafa: These are personal matters and don’t concern you. Brother, you can believe in stones as long as you don’t throw them at me. You are free to worship whoever you want, but other people’s beliefs are not your concern. Whether they believe in the Messiah is God, son of Mary, or that Satan is God, son of Mary. Let people hyave their beliefs.
The Jews have come from the tragedy (of the Holocaust) and forced the world to respect them with their knowledge, not with their terror: with their work, not their crying and yelling. Humanity owes most of the discoveries and science of the 19th and 20th Centuries to Jewish scientists.

We have not seen one Jew blow himself up in a German restaurant. We have not seen a single Jew destroy a church. We have not seen a single Jew protest by killing people.

Only Muslims defend their faith by burning down churches, and killing people and destroying embassies. This path will not yield any results

Maslama said, 'Then allow me to lie so that I will be able to deceive him.' Muhammad said, 'You may do so.'" Ishaq:368 "Ka'b's body was left prostrate [humbled in submission]. After his fall, all of the Nadir Jews were brought low. Sword in hand we cut him down. By Muhammad's order we were sent secretly by night. Brother killing brother. We lured him to his death with guile [cunning or deviousness]. Traveling by night, bold as lions, we went into his home. We made him taste death with our deadly swords. We sought victory for the religion of the Prophet." Tabari VII:97 Ishaq:368 "We carried Ka'b's head and brought it to Muhammad during the night. We saluted him as he stood praying and told him that we had slain Allah's enemy. When he came out to us we cast Ashraf's head before his feet. The Prophet praised Allah that the poet had been assassinated and complimented us on the good work we had done in Allah's Cause. Our attack upon Allah's enemy cast terror among the Jews, and there was no Jew in Medina who did not fear for his life.'" Tabari VII:97 "The morning after the murder of Ashraf, the Prophet declared, 'Kill any Jew who falls under your power.'"

Hey relax there. I am in total agreement with you. I just happened upon this on the net and thought I'd post it since it seemed fitting for this thread. When any religion's GOD, preaches violence in the name of GOD, (and they all do) it is scary.
Islam is more than a religion, it is a violent, dangerous, and ever growing ideology of control and repression that does not allow its true believers to profess any allegiance beyond allegiance to the tenets of this ideology. If westerners had not forsaken their own value system years ago in the favor of some sort of neutral relativism where all value systems are "equal," then we would be able to view it objectively for what it is: on the grand scale as dangerous as National Socialism and Communism, with far more adherents willing to die en mass for it's ends. Furthermore the ideology is incompatible with our western values, and if one is to truly follow Islam, then one must turn against our western culture and actively work to destroy it. No wonder we make certain to put its followers into our military. It makes sense since we have a cultural death wish.
No one can objectively dispute, given the evidence, that what I have printed here is correct. You would have to be unwilling to accept the facts, adverse to any kind of struggle or fight, even in the face of imminent death of your culture or your physical self, and unable to grasp that there are movements based not upon tolerance and respect, but on pure dominance. And most people fit one or all of the above criteria in America, today.
That is all I have to say on this today. Tolerate it at the risk of your grandchildren and their heirs.

GB...I agree with you in part. But you must acknowledge that ALL religions at some point or another in their 'written word' does encourage violence 'in the name of GOD'. Or what they call 'righteous violence'.
What concerns me, in this modern, so called civilized society, is that the so called 'non violent' muslims who are supposed to be the peace loving majority, aren't in the streets protesting against the 'violent radical' muslims. That's why we are gaining very slowly in Iran and Afghanistan. The muslims are not all to comfortable fighting against one another.
My concern with the muslim religion is that they openly say that they despise and want to destroy the 'satan west' and they want to exterminate the jews and are hell bent on taking over the world. Our only consolation is that this was tried before by many past religions and there is yet to be a one world religion.

A man, whose family was German aristocracy prior to World War II, owned a number of large industries and estates. When asked how many German people were true Nazis, the answer he gave can guide our attitude toward fanaticism. 'Very few people were true Nazis,' he said, 'but many enjoyed the return of German pride, and many more were too busy to care. I was one of those who just thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools. So, the majority just sat back and let it all happen. Then, before we knew it, they owned us, and we had lost control, and the end of the world had come. My family lost everything. I ended up in a concentration camp and the Allies destroyed my factories..'
We are told again and again by 'experts' and 'talking heads' that Islam is the religion of peace and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to live in peace. Although this unqualified assertion may be true, it is entirely irrelevant. It is meaningless fluff, meant to make us feel better, and meant to somehow diminish the spectre of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of Islam.
The fact is that the fanatics rule Islam at this moment in history. It is the fanatics who march. It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50 shooting wars worldwide. It is the fanatics who systematically slaughter Christian or tribal groups throughout Africa and are gradually taking over the entire continent in an Islamic wave. It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder, or honour-kill. It is the fanatics who take over mosque after mosque. It is the fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims and homosexuals. It is the fanatics who teach their young to kill and to become suicide bombers.
The hard, quantifiable fact is that the peaceful majority, the 'silent majority,' is cowed and extraneous.
Communist Russia was comprised of Russians who just wanted to live in peace, yet the Russian Communists were responsible for the murder of about 20 million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant. China's huge population was peaceful as well, but Chinese Communists managed to kill a staggering 70 million people.
The average Japanese individual prior to World War II was not a warmongering sadist. Yet, Japan murdered and slaughtered its way across South East Asia in an orgy of killing that included the systematic murder of 12 million Chinese civilians; most killed by sword, shovel, and bayonet. And who can forget Rwanda, which collapsed into butchery. Could it not be said that the majority of Rwandans were 'peace loving'?
History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our powers of reason, we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points: Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by their silence. Peace-loving Muslims will become our enemy if they don't speak up, because like my friend from Germany, they will awaken one day and find that the fanatics own them, and the end of their world will have begun.
Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians, Rwandans, Serbs, Afghans, Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, and many others have died because the peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too late. As for us who watch it all unfold, we must pay attention to the only group that counts -- the fanatics who threaten our way of life.
