From what I heard is that the quality of their products are not as good as when it was when it was Bellevue Builders as their line of products changed after Stock took over.
My experience is that the product selection and quality has decreased and the customer service has deteriorated since the company was sold to Stock Building Supply.

I heard the identical same thing. I also talked to some X-employees who left soon after Stock took over. They hated it. Although that is not uncommon to lose employees when there is a major change in a company. Whenever I ride by Stock on Duanesburg Road, the parking lot never really looks that full anymore. However, I did hear that they cater to the builders as opposed to the people off the street. So I guess it's off to Lowes and Home Depot we go. I prefer Lowes!

I've even heard from some of the builders that Stock was messing up their orders and sending out the wrong items and in some cases the item that they needed was out of stock.
I hope they get their act together real quick! Rotterdam can't afford another empty building! It seems that Mr. Lucarelli didn't have a problem. He ran an excellent business. And he was a private owner....not a large corporation like Stock.

PALATINE BRIDGE Stock Building Supply closes store on Route 5 BY JAMES SCHLETT Gazette Reporter
The nation’s housing slump is hurting Stock Building Supply severely in rural areas, forcing the building material supplier to close many of its isolated stores, including one in Palatine Bridge it acquired two years ago. A closing sale started Monday at the store on Route 5. The closure is part of Stock’s latest attempts to adjust to the sluggish new construction market by cutting 370 jobs at 24 stores. Those cuts — mostly in Midwestern states — come on top of Stock’s decision to close 22 other stores and eliminate 4,500 jobs. The first round of cuts eliminated a quarter of Stock’s work force. “In light of the continued challenging market conditions, Stock Building Supply has made the difficult decision to close an additional 23 locations where the market conditions have remained diffi cult These locations are predominantly rural locations or smaller locations within a metro market where Stock has concluded that the overall market is not sufficient to justify the investment,” Stock said in a prepared statement. The Raleigh, N.C.-based Stock entered the New York market in 2005 by acquiring Bellevue Builders Supply in Rotterdam. The Palatine Bridge closure will affect seven employees. No other closures are expected for New York, where Stock will continue to operate seven stores, a company spokeswoman said. The restructuring initiatives will leave Stock with 287 stores in 33 states.
My gut feeling tells me that the duanesburg rd Stock is not doing so well either. Whenever I drive by, there are always very very few cars there. Nothing like it use to be. They even put signs out on the road now to advertise their sales. Clearly not the way it was when Lucarelli/Bellevue builders owned it. He never had to advertise that way. I can recall going into Bellevue builders at any given time and the parking lot was full. Not so anymore, anyday, anytime!
