Quoted from GrahamBonnet
What percent of the total number of years Earth has existed are used the data used to calculate the hypothesis of "man-made global climate change?" For instance, do the "scientists" use the temperature figures from 15,962 BC?

How about 1,372,766 BC? 256 AD? 287,439 BC? Are those years in there? Or is is just the last few hundred years which are about the same few hundred years we had both thermometers and have been out of the Stone Age?

It really becomes a silly conversation when you realize how old Earth is and how long man has roamed it, where we have no idea. See, the average person thinks a few hundred years is enough to establish scientific proof because public education has made it a point to make people less critical and just plain dumb, and more easily led by the socialists and the government led media. They just don't understand that you can't just "make up data and "extrapolate" it as it were. We DON'T KNOW what the weather REALLY was scientifically 1,000, 10,000, or 100,000 years ago to the extent that we can say "Earth's temperature has risen or will rise 1.3 degrees! GADZOOKS!" or some other BS.

Any guesswork or formula based on fossils, thickness of the ice cap, etc assumes constants which are not really constant. Gulfstreams, solar activity, ect.

Scientists have strived to replace God so hard that now want to be God. But when there is a chance to use a fake crisis to raise taxes to glom some more of the people's money to spread it around to the "scientific community"you know they will jump to create hypotheses which will work for their case, and their wallets! At least some of them will!

OK- probably what your saying is true- I still don't care-  why do you  still just dig for " scientific " information to support the position of a political party- - I am still  calling bumble-shadow and who ever out - if you are going to post something- does it have to be propaganda ?  Post some facts-  I told you a good one is- the high and low temp records from every freakin weather station.  Instead you like to go on an on and on and on and on and on and and on and on and on-

My personal opinion is that global warming is a man made scheme by the people pushing for the green technology to make money on the backs of the taxpayer whether it be a Rep or a Dem makes no difference. This whole global warming thing was started by James Hansen, who in the 70's told us all there was an ice age on the way and we must take all measures to avoid it. It never happened and instead the earth warmed up. Enter James Hansen again along with Al Gore and they're screaming the earth is warming up and we must take immediate measures to stop it by buying Al Gores carbon credits to make him a billionaire. They had to change their war cry to climate crisis because it was proven that the earth is cooling in order to sell this junk science to their followers. Why are there countries in Europe that are backing away from this climate crap yet the greens in the USA keep trying to shove their agenda down our throats. It's not political, it's insane. To answer your question Sombody we dig for information that is against global warming to counter all the mis-information which is being fed to us by the left wing media who are in the tank for the people pushing the green agenda.

Alfred P. Sloan Professor of Meteorology, Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences

Professor Lindzen is a dynamical meteorologist with interests in the broad topics of climate, planetary waves, monsoon meteorology, planetary atmospheres, and hydrodynamic instability.   His research involves studies of the role of the tropics in mid-latitude weather and global heat transport, the moisture budget and its role in global change, the origins of ice ages, seasonal effects in atmospheric transport, stratospheric waves, and the observational determination of climate sensitivity. He has made major contributions to the development of the current theory for the Hadley Circulation, which dominates the atmospheric transport of heat and momentum from the tropics to higher latitudes, and has advanced the understanding of the role of small scale gravity waves in producing the reversal of global temperature gradients at the mesopause, and provided accepted explanations for atmospheric tides and the quasi-biennial oscillation of the tropical stratosphere. He pioneered the study of how ozone photochemistry, radiative transfer and dynamics interact with each other. He is currently studying what determines the pole to equator temperature difference, the nonlinear equilibration of baroclinic instability and the contribution of such instabilities to global heat transport. He has also been developing a new approach to air-sea interaction in the tropics, and is actively involved in parameterizing the role of cumulus convection in heating and drying the atmosphere and in generating upper level cirrus clouds. He has developed models for the Earth's climate with specific concern for the stability of the ice caps, the sensitivity to increases in CO2, the origin of the 100,000 year cycle in glaciation, and the maintenance of regional variations in climate. Prof. Lindzen is a recipient of the AMS's Meisinger, and Charney Awards, the AGU's Macelwane Medal, and the Leo Huss Walin Prize. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, and the Norwegian Academy of Sciences and Letters, and a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the American Association for the Advancement of Sciences, the American Geophysical Union and the American Meteorological Society. He is a corresponding member of the NAS Committee on Human Rights, and has been a member of the NRC Board on Atmospheric Sciences and Climate and the Council of the AMS.   He has also been a consultant to the Global Modeling and Simulation Group at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, and a Distinguished Visiting Scientist at California Institute of Technology's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. There are just as many scientists who don't believe that the carbon emmissions are causing global warming/change as the carbon emmissions are high and temperatures are dropping. The one factor that none of these people who favor Cap and trade will mention is that since this planet was formed it has been heated by the sun and in periods of high activity the temperaturres climb and in periods of lower activity temperatures fall and that's been happening since time began long b4 mankind invented machines. Remember all the meteriologists who were against global warming were threatened with being fired from their jobs unless they went along with the global warming theory. I don't feel that we've studied this problem for a long enough time as it takes an awful long time to get accurate results concering climate change it can't be done in a matter of years no matter what the government says.

I agree with shadow. There has clearly not been enough proof to side with the idea of global warming, climate change or whatever anyone wants to call it. Clearly not enough proof to impose taxes and stupid laws to fight against it. Taxes, fees and laws to fight something that it NOT proven.

They are all man's THEORIES! Again...I'm still waiting for the ice age that these BRILLIANT men predicted in the 70's! These are nothing more than a bunch of tree huggers who got a little power and loved it! It's all about MONEY! It's just something for the government to tax! And in comes CAP AND TRADE!! numbskulls! IMHO

Do we really think we can change the earth, it's rotation, it's place in the galaxy etc.....even if we do we are a species that
adapts....it just means things might change....maybe we will live longer in the warmer temperatures? maybe the bathingsuit
business or the sunscreen businesses will make a load of $$....maybe we should take out stock in these? or maybe
we could just all share a bathtub of gin

OK, so I'm ready to totally screw up the world.  Here's what we're going to do.  The world spins to the east.  I guess I'll have to pick one time zone to line this up with, so we'll say Eastern...  on 9/9/09 at 9:09:09 am, we're all going to jump up and to the west.  Since the earth spins consistently to the east, if we get enough people to do it at the same time, maybe we can get the world to slow down and/or turn around and go the other way.  Maybe it'll make some of the changes Mr. Gore and his cronies want...maybe not.  Anybody in?

All lawmakers should embrace climate change legislation

On June 26 the House passed the Waxman-Markey Climate Change bill, 219-212. Rep. [Paul] Tonko voted yes, and he should be congratulated for that vote.
However, it is greatly disturbing that there are 212 climate-change deniers in the House of Representatives. What is even more disturbing is that on the local level, we have two climate-change deniers on the county Legislature — Bob Farley and Jim Buhrmaster.
At the April meeting of the county Legislature, Farley and Buhrmaster voted “no” on a modest proposal adopting the “Climate Smart Community Pledge,” which pledges the county to limit and reduce its greenhouse gas emissions.
MIT researchers who previously predicted a temperature rise of slightly over four degrees by the end of the century are now predicting a rise of more than nine degrees — which would create an environmental and economic disaster (“Betraying The Planet” by Paul Krugman, New York Times, June 29).
Buhrmaster and Farley represent a mindless rejection of science within the Republican Party. Their votes are significant because Buhrmaster lost his bid for Congress last year and Farley is eyeing a seat in the state Legislature. Voters, beware.

See it is people like mr. daly that make this whole stupid global warming thing political! He should be informed that there are some reps that agree with this whole global warming thing. And there are some dems that are against it. idiot!

pre·dict
Pronunciation:\pri-ˈdikt\
Function:verb
Etymology:Latin praedictus, past participle of praedicere, from prae- pre- + dicere to say — more at diction
Date:1609
transitive verb
: to declare or indicate in advance ; especially : foretell on the basis of observation, experience, or scientific reason
intransitive verb
: to make a prediction
synonyms see foretell

Quoted Text
Main Entry:fore·tell
Pronunciation:\fȯr-ˈtel\
Function:transitive verb
Inflected Form(s):fore·told  \-ˈtōld\ ; fore·tell·ing
Date:14th century
: to tell beforehand : predict
— fore·tell·er noun
synonyms foretell, predict, forecast, prophesy, prognosticate mean to tell beforehand. foretell applies to the telling of the coming of a future event by any procedure or any source of information . predict commonly implies inference from facts or accepted laws of nature . forecast adds the implication of anticipating eventualities and differs from predict in being usually concerned with probabilities rather than certainties . prophesy connotes inspired or mystic knowledge of the future especially as the fulfilling of divine threats or promises . prognosticate is used less often than the other words; it may suggest learned or skilled interpretation, but more often it is simply a colorful substitute for predict or prophesy .

So is it a prediction of something NEW? or is it history that we have not seen yet but have some kind of evidence of? do we
really make that much of an impact?

Warming or cooling? Science has flip-flopped

I don’t know how old Vince Daly is, but his July 11 letter, “All lawmakers should embrace climate change legislation,” reveals that he’s likely younger than 30.
To anyone over 40, his embrace of “climate change” is reminiscent of the way some believed in “the coming ice age” 30 years ago. Schools and the media pushed the fear of “global cooling” incessantly. And it was all attributed to an increase in human activity and atmospheric pollutants.
Reid Bryson in his book, “Global Ecology,” said in 1971, “The continued, rapid cooling of the earth since WWII is in accord with the increase in global air pollution associated with industrialization, mechanization, urbanization, and exploding population.” Even up to 1992, the warnings were dire.
Gregg Easterbrook said “The advent of a new ice age, scientists say, appears to be guaranteed. The devastation will be astonishing.” (Return of the Glaciers, Newsweek, Nov. 23, 1992).
Wow, what a turnaround in 30 years. Global cooling and catastrophe due to pollution to global heating and catastrophe due to pollution. Does pollution cool or warm? Let’s get it straight before we make predictions.
In the 2000 EPA annual report, Carol Browner, Al Gore’s Senate aide, said, “Between 1970 and 1999, total emissions of the six principal air pollutants decreased by 31 percent.”
These statements, and many others, show that there is no consensus on “global climate change” even among scientists. The climate is always changing. It always has. The ice age, and recovery from it, came about without any human help or intervention. And without any human help, Mars and Venus are getting warmer.
I believe that carbon credits, carbon allotments for individuals, and mandated money transfers to poorer countries are only ploys to socialize the global economy. On that regard, I applaud the 212 “climate deniers” in the House of Representatives, and county Legislators Bob Farley and Jim Buhrmaster locally, because they understand the nefarious results of shackling the United States to any climate mandate or protocol based on capricious science.

In hot water: World sets ocean temperature record
By SETH BORENSTEIN, AP Science Writer Seth Borenstein, Ap Science Writer 45 mins ago

WASHINGTON – Steve Kramer spent an hour and a half swimming in the ocean Sunday — in Maine. The water temperature was 72 degrees — more like Ocean City, Md., this time of year. And Ocean City's water temp hit 88 degrees this week, toasty even by Miami Beach standards.

Kramer, 26, who lives in the seaside town of Scarborough, said it was the first time he's ever swam so long in Maine's coastal waters. "Usually, you're in five minutes and you're out," he said.

It's not just the ocean off the Northeast coast that is super-warm this summer. July was the hottest the world's oceans have been in almost 130 years of record-keeping.

The average water temperature worldwide was 62.6 degrees, according to the National Climatic Data Center, the branch of the U.S. government that keeps world weather records. June was only slightly cooler, while August could set another record, scientists say. The previous record was set in July 1998 during a powerful El Nino weather pattern.

Meteorologists said there's a combination of forces at work: A natural El Nino system just getting started on top of worsening man-made global warming, and a dash of random weather variations. The resulting ocean heat is already harming threatened coral reefs. It could also hasten the melting of Arctic sea ice and help hurricanes strengthen...................>>>>..............>>>>.............http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090820/ap_on_sc/us_sci_warm_oceans
