NORTH GREENBUSH --The 51-year-old manager of a Main Avenue doughnut shop has been charged with sexually abusing and harassing his employees, some of them underage, police said Monday.

Paul V. Chiarello, of Paul Avenue in Rotterdam, a boss at the Dunkin' Donuts at 69 Main Ave., is charged with having sexual contact and making explicit comments to his workers there, who ranged in age from 16 to 24, police said.

Authorities declined to elaborate on the charges Monday aside from saying they related to four different victims and incidents that happened over several months.

Chiarello is charged with six counts each of third-degree sexual abuse and forcible touching, as well as one count of endangering the welfare of child, all misdemeanors, police said.

He also faces four counts of second-degree harassment, a violation, police said.

Police began probing the allegations against Chiarello on June 20 and finished two days later. He was arraigned in town court and sent to the Rensselaer County Jail by Justice Andrew Ceresia in lieu of $10,000 bail.

He is due back in court Tuesday, police said.

Anyone with more information is asked to contact North Greenbush Police at 283-5323.

Let's see if Dunkin Donuts is worth enough money for John Aretakis to go big in the media with this and be in front of the camera with this as he is when it's the catholic church.

I've often wondered if he made such a big deal with the priests because of the wealth of the Vatican.  We've seen diocese's virtually go bankrupt over the lawsuits.  I'm not saying they aren't warranted, but how many public school districts have had go close down in order to pay lawsuits by public school teachers.

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

The media holds the Catholic church at a higher standard. As most probably do. That's why it became such an media frenzey when priests were being accused of abuse. But you bring up a good point. What if it was another religion? I wonder if the media or the people would react in the same manner.

Dunkin’ Donuts
manager arrested
in sexual abuse

NORTH GREENBUSH — A Rotterdam man who managed a Dunkin’ Donuts shop was arrested Monday and charged with sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.
Paul V. Chiarello, 51, of Paul Avenue, is accused of having sexual contact with female employees.
Police were contacted last week by an employee at the Dunkin’ Donuts at 69 Main Ave. who gave an account of several incidents that allegedly occurred during the last several months.
Police said Chiarello is accused of having sexual contact and making sexual explicit comments to four girls and women who range in age from 16 to 24.
“Mr. Chiarello used his position as a manager to prey on young ladies who were working under his supervision,” said Chief Rocco Fragomeni. “The abuse was degrading and inexcusable.”
He was arraigned Monday morning and charged with six counts of forcible touching; six counts of third-degree sexual abuse; four counts of second-degree harassment; and one count of endangering the welfare of a child, all misdemeanors.
Chiarello was sent to the Rensselaer County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail and is scheduled to appear today in North Greenbush Town Court.
Anyone with further information is asked to contact police.

Guess Schenectady County has to give someone else their walking papers.  Wouldn't this make him a sexual predator and living within the appropriate distance of a place where children congregate, being Memorial Park?

Uh Oh...watch out for the Ed Kosier Police Squad. This Rotterdam/Dunkin Donuts Manager guy will have to move out by Oct. 1st!! Ya wanna know the scary part? Anyone can scream 'sexual abuse' even if it is not true...so who is going to be the advocate to protect the alleged criminal if falsely accused? Come on, we all know that the accused is assumed guilty right from the get go. So what if someone is just trying to set up someone else? Surely that can be easily done. And another scarey sinerio.

BTW, the Gazette has that there's going to be yet ANOTHER Dunkin' Donuts coming to town down on Campbell Ave, at the "Flying W Caps," place.  The owner of the 2 new Dunkin' Donuts in the area (Broadway hill and 5 Corners) is planning on puting another one down there.

Now explain this to me.  Some (ok, at least 1) of the workers at the 5 corners store told me that the owner was upset when the 5 corners store took too much business from the Broadway shop.  Can you explain to me, then, how adding ANOTHER store in such a close location is going to help?

I am surprised, since the only one that I really see busy is the one on Curry Road. Anytime I go through the 5 corners or by the one on Boradway Hill, there does not seem to be that many cars there. Curry Road always seems busy. I guess Dunkin Donuts want to cover all bases so another Krispy Kream or their likes, don't have room to come in anywhere!

From a Rotterdam point of view, I don't mind. Dunkin Donuts offers a good product and they are always clean with great service.

From a business point of view....I don't know how they all will survive!

Actually, Curry Rd. is a different owner than the rest.  And there used to be that one in Rotterdam Square that closed up.

I like Dunkin Donuts too, but I don't know if Rotterdam needs another one of those either, just like the car washes.
