D.  There was an entire town hall room full of people who heard the same comment I heard.

E.  I'm not responsible for transparency but it's available at every one of these meetings that take place, which is where I'd suggest people find it.

Now there ya go sounding like a politician already! No straight answers, just an invite to a meeting! Perhaps we all can't make it due to work schedules or our kids outside activities. I would have hoped that this information would be passed on to the other Rottedam neighbors who would like to hear what is going on. It's all public record, right? Certainly no secrets here!

On the contrary, my answers were perfectly straight.  I don't sling mud.  I'm also way past holding people's hands.  Tried that...didn't work.  I'll stay focused on the task.  I know what it is.  Climb aboard or step aside.  Still sound like a politician?

Just an update to my earlier post today...the heaviest equipment was removed from the woods after work concluded.  The last of the tree piles by the roadside were finally removed too.  Perhaps with the first snow things are coming to a halt for the season.  I can only hope...

How about our coordinator who's job it is to over see the projects being done in the town.

It's not considered mud slinging when you question where an elected officials private interests lie, and if those interests conflict with his/her decisions as a public servant.  You're not running for the town board yet.  So you have nothing politically to gain from naming the public figure who you so doggedly criticize.  So technically you're not mud slinging.

I don't think I'll be climbing aboard the Masullo Estates fix the water problem in my backyard so I don't lose anymore on my investment train.  There are other issues in Rotterdam, bigger than a 25+ year old residential development with a high water table.  File a lawsuit against the developer for building the development on that land, or against the town of Rotterdam for allowing it to be built.  Somebody has to be liable.  

  

I feel that a lawsuit should be filed as well because the way things are going right now the problem will never get fixed properly. There are water problems all over this town as many of the developments were built on known wetlands and all that was done was to bring in fill and that was supposed to solve the problem, not true. By filling in a wetland you change the flow of the ground water and storm water and all of a sudden people who never had a water problem now have flooded basements. If you're lucky enough not to have any water problems just hope that nobody develops the land next door or you could have problems in the future. This town has got to change the way it views wetlands and start doing things the right way instead of relying ON information that some builders engineer tells them as once the development is turned over to the town we're stuck with all the problems that the development has created.

You can bet your bazumbas that that member was NOT joking.......considering the history of Rotterdam.....they ALL eat at the same trough.....just look at the 'private sewer line' proposed by the private local developers for Mclanes.......

so this member will collect for the use of their property and a new roof they will be able to put atop their home or maybe a nice large addition....fine but, work comes first so fix the damn problem and fix it right......they need to get their foot from out of their a@#.....you cant run a race with one foot....

The only way this town can view and act on the wetlands situation is to NOT develop on them! And someone brought up a good point to me the other day. If this is such and environmental hazard that is happening with trees being cut down...WHERE IS AARON MAIR? He has been a known environmental activist. He clearly seemed to speak up when it was in his back yard(Putnam Road issues), where is he now?

Well, maybe it's because it's NIMBY that some people (such as Aaron Mair) aren't concerned about it.  Many of us only see how far it is away from our home, and if you can see it from there, then it's something to be worried about.

I'll defend Mr. Mair, not that he necessarily needs it.  He's spoken about plenty beyond his own dilemma and often about Masullo Estates too.  I believe he understands the problems of the town as well as anyone.

I respect Cicero's position too about his inclination to move beyond Masullo Estates' problems and address other things.  I'd point out though that Masullo Estates is simply the poster child of the moment for many of the problems facing the town when it comes to proper development oversight.  THIS is what happens.  It shouldn't continue but then something like Helderberg Meadows gets approval.  You're supposed to learn from mistakes, not repeat them.

Lawsuit...it's been kicked around more than once but it gets real complicated unfortunately.  And no one, residents or the town, wants another one.  Forget the blame - let's fix the problem.

FYI for anyone that cares....I spoke to ACOE again today to ascertain the status of the permit for Helderberg Meadows.  The public comment period closed long ago (Mar 2005) but I periodically follow up since we requested a public hearing when we submitted objections along with our petition.

The permit is still pending.  (ACOE Public Notice 2004-00779-YN)

The answer to that seems to be varied depending on when you ask the question.  Remember, their determination runs independent of the the other interested parties (ie: Town Planning Commission) but are simultaneously interconnected to those other determinations, as you would expect.  I suppose you could characterize it as complicated cooperation?

At any rate, they've been at it since late 2004/ early 2005 so it's somewhat reassuring that they are being thorough.  A public hearing as we requested would certainly be even more thorough but I'm not holding my breath.
